I wonder when the homosexuals are going to demand that science make it possible for them to bear children?

A) a human idea, Steve? God the Father is not human, yet He has given us his Word which says:
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.(2 Timothy 3:16, 17)
for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. (2Peter 1:21)

The Bible DOES claim inerrancy, Steve, even in those 2 verses. You have a hardened heart, man.

Does it? The Timothy passage says “all Scripture.” At the time that was written, “scripture” would have referred to what we now call the Old Testament. The New Testament as such didn’t exist at the time.

It also doesn’t say anything about it being “inerrant.” It says it is inspired and “profitable” to use for the various purposes listed, but not that it is entirely free of human error.

The passage from 2 Peter refers specifically to prophecy, not to everything written. Read the whole context, and it becomes clear that the author was not even intending to imply that everything in the Bible (which, remember, didn’t exist yet) is inerrant.

And all that aside, my point stands: These are claims that you choose to believe.

You are arguing in a big circle: The Bible is true because the Bible says it is true, and that claim must be correct, because it’s in the Bible, which is true because (repeat ad infinitum).

Justus #157: Amusing, but meaningless. Until you prove that the words in the Bible are the words of God, and the words in the Koran and the Book of Mormon are not, you’re just stating something you believe. And your belief is no more evidence than a Muslim or Mormon’s belief is evidence for their books.

“It’s not easy to find on his campaign website, but Sen. Barack Obama has issued an open letter to the “LGBT community” assuring them he believes in “full equality” for homosexuals and stating that, unlike Sen. Hillary Clinton, he advocates the complete repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act.

In the letter, published on a campaign blog, Obama says he’s “running for president to build an America that lives up to our founding promise of equality for all – a promise that extends to our gay brothers and sisters.”

Pointing out that throughout his career he’s “fought to eliminate discrimination against LGBT (Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) Americans,” Obama lists some of his specific accomplishments.

Justus, you or I or anyone could write a a book and somewhere in the book write, “by the way, the words in this book come from God and you have to believe it.”

Saying it doesn’t make it true.

Also, those verses don’t claim inerrancy, just inspiration.

SteveG #123 - For those of you who believe the Bible is infallible, or inerrant, or however you think of it … how do you know? This idea is a human idea. The Bible can’t declare itself to be infallible because (1) it doesn’t, (2) it’s an assembly of 66 books selected by a committee, and (3) any claim of inerrancy is no less a human idea than the idea that it is something less than perfect.

First of all, for someone who’s claimed to once be a believer, your statement certainly brings more than doubt. Your ignorance of Holy Scripture shows your need to read it more everyday just to understand that it is reliable, innerrant and complete. It truly is God’s Word. However your unbelief proves you need to repent before Holy God. Since I am one to stay with the topic at hand, let us see exactly your point. For background’s sake, you already know that I do believe in scripture’s perfection. I do so by faith, because of the hard evidence set forth contained in scripture itself. Let us examine what the scripture says about itself, shall we?

Incredibly, Barack Obama claims to be a devout Christian. Perhaps what he means is that he is a devout Red Letter Christian. But that can’t be true either, for it seems that he has not read the red letters in another of those obscure passages of scripture, Matthew 19.
And He [Jesus] answered and said, “Have you not read, that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘for this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh’? Consequently they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”
