Clinton’s last stand

Gravatar  14 Comments

Despite losing North Carolina and just narrowly taking Indiana, Hillary Clinton is vowing to press “full speed on to the White House.” Although she remains optimistic, this morning on Good Morning America, political correspondent George Stephanopoulos said “Barack Obama has a lead that can’t be overcome.” He also predicted that more superdelegates will now side with Obama and campaign dollars will dry up in the Clinton camp, further increasing pressure on Clinton to bow out.

But will she? Or is August’s Democratic National Convention going to be one heck of a showdown?

  1. Tim Russert said that we know now who the nominee is going to be. He also said that there’s no good reason Clinton can give to supporters for continuing to give money.

Supposedly the Clintons have given their campaign more money. But they’ve also cancelled speaking engagements etc.

I hope she does hang on….

  2. I never liked the Clintons nor their politics. But I’m afraid of Obama. I really am. As I said before, McCain’s problem is that he has a record.
Obama’s problem is that he has no record.
Without a record, all we can go by is the crowd he runs with. People call it guilt by association, but that (and his wife) is all we have. It doesn’t look good.
I’m afraid for our country with an Obama presidency and a compliant congress.

OBama might be a galvanizing stump speaker capable of inspiring legions with his speechifying ability. But fast-forward to 20 Jan 09 when Barack is sworn in as Prez. As Jimmy Carter wonderfully demonstrated, a good campaigner does not a good president make. In the case of Carter we had not a loose cannon on deck but an unloaded one of minimal value; in OBama’s case the cannon is loose and loaded but it is turned around and aimed at us.
Amazing how the media hasnt pointed out that– on substantive policy issues— neither O or C have any major differences. I hope the proLife folks fully expose Clinton and Barack as the worst type of Abortion Uber Alles Democrats

  4. Hillary keeps hoping Obama will make one more mistake that will stick. It’s the only way she has a chance. Unfortunately Obama seems to be made of teflon.

  5. Obama is made of Teflon as far as democrats go. They see so no problems with him, his campaign or or his ability to wipe the floor with McCain.

He has managed to bring many young and inexperienced voters to the primaries, as has Hillary to a lesser degree, and they will vote him even if turns out that he is really Osama bin Laden is disguise since these people don’t even know who Osama is, and do not care.

As long as he promises everyone on the left everything any socialist young or old could possibly ever want and not be pressed by anyone in the MSM who he has firmly stuffed in his pocket, to explain how he will pay for even a small part of his promises, then he should win quite handily. These little piggies do not care what slop is swilled their way and are too brainwashed to care if it ever comes their way.

Sadly, for Obama and his piggies, others not in his pocket will have no problem putting Barack in his place and making him answer the questions he cannot answer truthfully and win.

Hillary would be much harder to beat since she is way right of Obama. Her voting record isn’t that much to the left of McCain’s who certainly hasn’t acted or voted like any conservative on the planet. The country wasn’t ready to elect a woman specialist and they will not be ready to elect a black Marxist either if he is running against a LICC - Liberal in Conservative Clothes like McCain.

They won’t get any traction saying McCain is just another Bush as they will try to do. He is certainly his own Maverick. Comparing him to Bush would be like saying Hillary is another Bush.

The twit McCain may pick Joe Lieberman as his running mate for heaven’s sake and Joe is barely to the right of Obama and way left of Hillary.

The only way McCain can lose against Obama is if all whites, all conservatives, all evangelicals and all men stay home on election day. But, they will stay home if he picks Lieberman as his running mate and McCain is crazy enough to pick old Joe to run with him too.

  6. I’m also surprised that the MSM hasn’t pointed out that in Obama’s case “cannon is loose and loaded but it is turned around and aimed at us.” I thought they would be right there, on top of any random and arbitrary metaphor Sawgunner happens to think up. It amazing how irresponsible the MSM is. You know, I think those LIBERALS are CENSORING Sawgunner’s random, arbitrary metaphors. I saw this coming from the moment the Washington Post refused to publish my “McCain is a roaring engine” story! G-d, it’s like Bush’s proud-duck all over again! I hate the MSM!

Well, anytime you’re counting on the other guy to screw up to make your victory possible, that’s when it doesn’t happen.

It’s like a football team that’s down by 10 with a minute to go and one time-out. You’re counting on the other team fumbling the ball, so you can recover it and score, and then go for 2 and make it. Then you’re counting on recovering an on-side kick, moving the ball within field goal range, and kicking the game winning field goal. It’s not impossible, and it has been done. But the odds are it’s not going to happen.

Hillary is down 10 with a minute to go. She could pull it out. I’d say her odds are very slim this late in the game.

So, is this “chaos” really going to hurt the Democratic nominee, or is that just Republican wishful thinknig?

  9. In the end, “Operation Chaos” will not have affected anything. I understand that the object is to keep the pot boiling, but it’s turned into a lot of self promotion for Rush. I’m getting tired of it. But you still hear more truth about the election process from Rush than from the MSM, including Fox. Rush just quoted a Democrat election official (forgot his name) who said, “You can’t win an election with egg heads and blacks”. Pretty raw stuff. But it’s true.

“Operation Chaos” is a Rush, not Republican thing. As Rush says, there is no leadership in the Republican party. It is quite possible for McClain to lose this. I’m beginning to suspect that it’s like the Bob Dole candidacy. He was more interested in running than winning. The only reason I was disappointed in the Dole loss is that we still had Clinton. McCain has already declared that he will run a “gentlemanly campaign.”

McCain is too old to try running any kind of campaign that isn’t “gentlemanly.”

Such age discrimination. So different from cultures which value the knowledge and experience of their elders.

I think Llama is right on this one.

  13. I hope the Dem convention turns into a smash-mouth cage fight. What’s bad for the Democratic Party is good for America.

The media today is saying Clinton has a math problem. But Obama does too!

No mention is made of the fact that neither candidate has enough delegates to clinch a win.

Since Obama is unelectable though, I am pulling for him.
