It’s a new week!

Today’s quote is from a playwright: “Dreams are illustrations from the book your soul is writing about you.”

Go Spurs Go! Isnt Tim Duncan amazing?

  3. Tomorrow my dad has a doctors appointment. My stepmother and I discussed it and she is going with him. He has not been able to swallow for over a week now. He has lived off ice cream and soup. His doctor had X-Rays and an Upper GI done and is sending him to another doctor. Yesterday he told me it burns all along his esophogus. My stepmother and I both are worried that this could be something really serious. Of course he has lost weight throughout this and really doesn’t look well.
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Here are a couple other quotes on dreams and dreaming:

“By sheer grace, God will not permit us to live even for a brief period in a dream world. He does not abandon us to those rapturous experiences and lofty moods that come over us like a dream. God is not a God of the emotions but the God of truth.” Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Life Together, p. 27.

“He who loves his dream of a community more than the Christian community itself becomes a destroyer of the latter, even though his personal intentions my be ever so honest and earnest and sacrificial.” Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Life Together, p. 27.

Sawgunner: Yes! Actually the Big Three are amazing!

  6. Joel,

I have heard, quite often, that some …eeerrrrr…..
unbalanced people have the same dreams over and over, almost uncontrollably, where they continually ….aaaahhhhh…. hope for change.

Joe B.: Enjoy your virtual coffee of the day!

  8. Another great dream quote:

“When the Lord brought back the capitves to Zion, we were like men who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy.” Psalm 126:1-2

When Bonehoffer said, ““By sheer grace, God will not permit us to live even for a brief period in a dream world. He does not abandon us to those rapturous experiences and lofty moods that come over us like a dream. God is not a God of the emotions but the God of truth” I think he was overstating his case.

God is the revealer of dreams, just ask Daniel, and the God of emotion, just ask David. He is not exclusivly thus, but it is all included in the big package.

  9. Great comment, Adios!

So, I have been catching up on the news by reading the newspapers that arrived while we were on vacation. Seems Idaho is receiving a shipment of 6,700 tons of contaminated sand for our hazardous waste dump. Only very marginally contaminated, well below the top level. Anyway, this is arriving from Kuwait after an incident during the first gulf war when some of our trucks caught fire and melted their armor into the sand. Seems like it might have been more environmentally sound to bury it there rather than risk crossing the Pacific and then railroading for miles. Just a thought. Guess this is just a way to build up America.

Did anyone see the pictures from the wedding of Bush’s daughter?

The black preacher who performed the ceremony is a backer of Barack Obama for President.

Does it every occur to us that black people are almost unappeasable? The endless string of olive branches were extend to them never seems to do any good.

Look at the Clintons. For 8 years the Clintons bent over backward to be fair to black people (remember he was the first “black president”). Along comes Obama and blacks completely abandon the Clintons.

there are times when I call the left the only ones in America today that still discriminate against anyone and I back them up with examples.

I also claim the socialists are also anti American and today I would like to back this up with examples.

Even though the left’s leadership is not being fair, decent and honest with their plans to place a windfall profits tax on the oil companies this in itself does not make them anti American.

What makes them anti American is what they plan to do with this money once they steal and extort if from the innocent oil companies. Yes, they are innocent. Oil companies make less profit as a percent of sales than the average American company. They make much less profit than banks, drug companies and technology companies but these companies have not been singled out yet to have their profits stolen from them even though they do deserve to have them stolen from them more than oil companies as if making money is somehow evil and sinful.

What makes the anti American is the left’s insane idea to tax oil companies after the fact rather than before and what they plan to do with these stolen profits that belong to the oil companies. The insane on the left are going to take the profits of the oil companies, a true windfall only for these lefty thieves, and they plan to give this stolen money to the oil company’s competitors - hopefully to drive these
evil oil companies out of business - with their own money - stolen from them.

Only a whack job, anti American socialist could ever possibly come up with such insane ideas.

But they have talked about stealing the profits of drug companies to punish them for making you more healthy, giving you a better life and standard of living.

What do you think they plan on doing to banks that loaned money to people so they could buy a house and now cannot pay off the loan? Will the borrower suffer at all? Why no, but you will and so will the banks.

No telling what these insane whack jobs in the US|A and Europe will do to poor Microsoft and other technology companies for their massively huge ‘windfall’ profits.

They have stolen billions from Microsoft and will do so again.

So don’t complain when these anti American idiots talk money from you, against your will, so that they can give it to their illegal alien buddies who are behind on their mortgages so that they can become US citizens in good standing - with no bankruptcy on their record. Even though they might just tax you into bankruptcy to pay for it.

Is it true that ABC has a top-rated TV show which will feature a man & man homosexual commitment ceremony? I thought that stuff had to stay limited to cable

    Kimberly,

Is Michelle still over there? yes, we have been paying attention, we, too, have friends over there.

    Victoria,

    The article on the sand?

I remember Michelle saying she was going … surely she doesn’t have access to internet over there.

I’ve been looking through the photos to see if I recognized anything, and I emailed a friend who also has friends in China, but I haven’t heard anything yet.

I don’t have a link to it, it is a newspaper here on the table, but I googled contaminated sand Idaho and several articles about it popped up.

    Kyle A,

I saw your comment on the big question and, as always upon seeing your name, I thought of you and your sister. I was going to ask how she is doing but decided to click on your name for you site. I found Mmacmurrays comment to your post and found that your sis died recently. I join you in sorrow at her passing and joy that the wait is over for her. You will miss her all your life and that is good.

  24. Sawgunner #18- If they only show the ceremony, it is legal. After all, the news showed part of the ceremonies when San Fran allowed them. If they show the honeymoon…

Who would have guessed it, Walmart is the best performing stock in the DOW year to date. Liberals must be foaming at the mouth and being reincarnated as Mexican Illegal Aliens :-)

Walmart reports 1st quarter earning tomorrow so I sold my wife’s Walmart De Mexico mid last week after making over 50% for her with the US and Mexican versions. You might wonder why I would do this, so listen carefully.

Walmart showed signs of higher high age. It’s price crossed over the 20 day moving average heading down mid last week - a sure sign that something is up short term.

If Walmart disappoints in sales or earnings, it will get clobbered tomorrow - and become a great buying opportunity again since it will go much higher. But the bar has been set pretty low for non Walmart retailers especially competitors.

If Walmart beats or meets earnings their pop will be limited because they have gone up so much, they are coming from recent weakness to go higher, plus their bar is higher. I don’t the big win in Walmart regardless of what happens with their earnings and it is best to take these kinds of winnings home to Momma and not be so greedy anyway.

So, there was only one thing to do to continue to make my wife rich beyond her wildest dreams. I bought Target today with her Walmart winnings. She loves the elitist, French owned, snooty Target, so it won’t be so agonizing for a socialist to own.

Target hasn’t done squat either and has been out of favor compared to Walmart shooting of the moon but they haven’t done anything wrong ether, if you don’t count catering to whack jobs, and will pop big if Walmart reports the great earnings I expect tomorrow - plus the Target upside is way better than Walmart in the short run - at least 100% better. And, if Walmart reports low Target won’t get smacked, with its low expectations like Walmart will with its large ones.

So, don’t buy Walmart tomorrow, be a low risk investor and buy Target instead to maximize your profits while reducing your risk. If you own Walmart you might want to sell it tomorrow before earnings to protect some of your Walmart winnings, but kick yourself for not thinking like a low risk investor to make some nearly risk free money.

Trade at your own risk and remember the concept and never, ever forget that free market capitalism is the best path to prosperity - even for socialists.

Adios wrote at #8; “I think he was overstating his case.”

I agree with Bonhoeffer (in the quotes I offered at #4) and I don’t agree with Adios that he was overstating anything.

For myself, it’s not that all dreaming is bad. It’s that we have overly exalted and worshipped our own dreaming to an excess in today’s narcisistic coulture.

Reality is better. I loved Bonhoeffer’s point about the damage we do when we love our “drem” of the Christian community more than we love the community itself.

“Diviners see lies, the dreamers tell false dreams, and give empty consolation.”
    Zechariah 10:2

    Michelle,

Good to hear from you. But my eyes must be going bad or my brain, it looks like gibberish, or one of those old style computers that filled whole rooms. We look forward to hearing more, and details.
