Sorry, Obama. You can’t have it both ways. You can’t have your wife speak for you and not expect that to be analyzed and, possibly, criticized. Take the Chelsea Clinton approach if you want people to “Lay off your wife.”
Maybe Bill Clinton feels the same way…
I think we’re entitled to know what kind of First Lady is in the offing. Michelle Obama is an educated woman. She’s been trained in the use of words, and she knows that words matter. You don’t say something like that if you don’t mean it. This wasn’t a “misspeak.” I’m with Paula. No double standard. If you don’t want to be criticized, don’t put yourself out there.
If the recent rumors are true, Obama isn’t really talking about the Tennessee ad.
There’s a lot of talk all over the internet about a “secret” tape of Michelle Obama. Supposedly she’s standing in the pulpit of Trinity United and testifying for the Lord. And what’s she testifying about? How evil and awful white people are, or, as she supposedly puts it in the tape, how bad “whitey” is. As you can imagine, if the rumor is true, Obama is in deep, deep doodoo, as W’s dad would say.
According to the rumor, some top GOP operatives, including Karl Rove, have a copy of the tape and are holding onto it until after Obama has sealed the nomination, when they’ll reveal it to destroy him. Hillary also supposedly knows about the tape. She can’t bring the tape up herself without enraging blacks. But the tape is the main reason she hasn’t dropped out of the race - she knows Obama is dead meat when it comes out.
The latest “news” is that a conservative billionaire who doesn’t want to wait until Obama’s the nominee, wants the tape out right now, and has offered a million dollars for a copy of it.
Is it true? We can’t know for sure until we see the tape, but at this point it’s certainly believable.
FMI, google “michelle obama whitey”
Michelle Obama has inserted herself into the campaign, therefore she is subject to as much criticism as any of BHO’s other surrogates. I agree with NJL, we are entitled to know what kind of First Lady we’d be getting if her husband is elected. To me, it looks like we’d be getting another “Two for the Price of One,” like the Clintons.
I read the other day that Michelle doesn’t want Hillary to be the VP nom, that she hates her. If that’s true, it seems to me it would be because she and Hillary are very much alike.
It’s all over the internet, and supposedly from genuine sources, of Michelle Obama railing against “whitey” at Jeremiah Wright’s church -
We will see ———
Room for one more?
There’s only room for one Diva…
I like the part where they play her remarks, and then Obama follows it up with “Michele is the most honest, the best person I know.” So I guess she was being honest with her “first time in my adult life I’ve been proud of the US” remarks.
And if Night Train is correct, and the video is out there in the hands of the GOP, you might as well stick a fork in him, because he’s done.
How do you guys find these things out?
Kayvee, it had actually slipped my mind about the two for one deal, but I think you’re right about that. This one wouldn’t be writing children’s books like Laura. (I kinda miss the Silver Fox.)
Okay, I googled. If that’s true you won’t need a fork, it’ll fall off the bone.
I really hate it when people like Sheldon what’s his name or Soros try to buy elections.
Hussein Obama’s reaction is typical among DemoRats. They have few, if any rules to observe for their own actions, but want the strictest restrictions placed on their opponents. Hussein, in his TV interview, lumped the criticisms of Michele in the general category of “attacks on my family” in order to give himself additional coverage for his response. Many of our Muslim enemies also hide behind women and children.
If Michele and Hussein can’t stand the criticism, she should shut her mouth in the area of politics and tend to her knitting and her children.
Otherwise she, like any other outspoken DemoRat, is fair game. She deserves all the criticism she gets.
Heh. Is he really this green? If so, and it’s not some put on naivete, somebody’s been coddled waaaaay too long.
For those of you who don’t know Michelle Obama went to Princeton and Harvard and was accepted into one of Chicago’s most prestigious law firms right out of college(where she meet Barack).
As someone who has benefitted greatly from affirmative action you would think she would thank her lucky stars that as a black woman she was born in the United States.
Yes, you would think that.
“supposedly from genuine sources…”
Ok, so some conservatives are not Christians, I got that. But as I recall there is something in Scripture about gossip.
While I can’t stand BHO or Michelle, I hope the “whitey” rumor isn’t true. If it is, it’ll be the worst thing to happen to American race relations in a generation.
Gossip? That’s a good one. I think you guys tried the same tactic when the rumors of Jeremiah Wright’s anti white racism began to trickle out. Then when the actual videos came out, you guys claimed they were “taken out of context.” Then when he reiterated his views at the National Press Club, you said it was old news and it’s time to change the subject.
While I can’t stand BHO or Michelle, I hope the “whitey” rumor isn’t true. If it is, it’ll be the worst thing to happen to American race relations in a generation.
Actually, Stubob, it’ll be the best thing to happen to American race relations in a long, long time. It will show white people the depths of hatred millions of blacks have for them, even the very successful and affluent, like the Obamas. They didn’t pay much attention when black preacher after black preacher said that you can hear Jeremiah Wright’s racist screeds in just about every black church in America, every Sunday.
For white people to come to grips with how millions of blacks actually feel about them, instead of continuing to believe in their fairy tale of an America that’s just one big happy rainbow family, will not be a bad thing, let alone “one of the worst” things. It will be a very good thing.
NOTE: A few quotes from article below, pictures of Obama and Farrahkan on cover, etc, — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr is not on the cover:
Obama, Farrakhan share cover of Wright’s monthly
Magazine’s reinforcement of anti-American rhetoric
casts doubt on senator’s insistence he was not aware

WorldNetDaily
“JERUSALEM - Sen. Barack Obama’s face several times graced the cover of an anti-American magazine run by his longtime pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., appearing on one issue alongside Nation of Islam chief Louis Farrakhan.”
“It seems inconceivable that, in 20 years, Obama would never have picked up a copy of Trumpet, writes Stanley Kurtz in a lengthy Weekly Standard expose of Wright’s magazine. “Obama himself graced the cover. .. There can be no mistaking it. What did Barack Obama know and when did he know it? Everything. Always.”
“Another was a montage of faces - black leaders, past and present, with the title “The legacy lives on” - that included Wright, Farrakhan, Nation of Islam founder Elijah Muhammad, Rosa Parks and even O.J. Simpson attorney Johnny Cochran.”
“Notice who’s missing? Martin Luther King, Jr,” noted the Little Green Footballs blog.
“The Obama campaign did not immediately return a WND request for comment about whether the senator read any issues of Trumpet or was aware his face was featured on several of the magazine’s covers, including once with Farrakhan.”
Wright, who recently transitioned from senior pastor to pastor emeritus of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, founded Trumpet magazine and serves as the publication’s CEO, with his daughter, Jeri, in the position of publisher/editor-in-chief. Trumpet went national in 2006 and reportedly has a readership larger than 100,000.”
“Glance through even a single issue of Trumpet, and Wright’s radical politics are everywhere - in the pictures, the headlines, the highlighted quotations and above all in the articles themselves,” writes Kurtz, a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C.
“Kurtz went through a year’s worth of Trumpet issues and said he found in the 2006 archives that controversial views expressed by Wright in sound bites from his sermons were reinforced in detail throughout the magazine.”
Obama, who has regarded Wright as a spiritual adviser, has stated a number of times he was not aware of some of Wright’s ideology during his two decades as a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.”
“Obama must have long been aware of his pastor’s political radicalism,” writes Kurtz. “A careful reading of nearly a year’s worth of Trumpet Newsmagazine makes it next to impossible to conclude otherwise.”
“It is simply inconceivable that in 20 years’ time someone as sharp as Obama did not grasp the intensely political themes repeated in so much of what Wright says and does,” he writes.”
This thread isn’t about Wright, Victoria.
You’re spamming.

SG
To Senator Obama:
Good luck with that Senator.
Do you really want people to stop criticizing your wife?
Step off the band wagon and go home.
————————————————-
Looks like the veneer is cracking. If Mrs. Obama truly said such things, then Hillary is a shoo-in.
Forgive me, but aren’t you all being just a we bit bi-polar about Obama? On one hand you whack at his supposed lack of policy creds, implying (correctly) that this is the proper way to judge a candidate. Next thing you turn start salivating at any evidence that he really is white-hating (thanks NT!) upitty N*****.
I really don’t think you all need to live down to the stereotype of southern evangelical Christianity.
Night Train has made a valid point. Even black people who have made it seem to have a hatred for white people.
Look at Oprah Winfrey who should be the poster girl for racial harmony. She has made tens of millions of dollars because (for the most part)white women have accepted her unconditionally.
So who does Oprah endorse for President? A white woman, the same as others who makes up the bulk of her audience? Not a chance. She campaigns for a half-black man for President.
Harris, if a candidate had a record of hanging with people who hated Jews, Asians or Gays, wouldn’t you want to know about it?
SG
No I don’t agree with you. With Obama, its always an excuse, just as it was with Wright, and then its excuse after excuse as to Obama’s wife’s remarks, its all in the pot which Obama has to look at. “Lay off my wife” — Obama can’t stand to be challenged, and his wife doesn’t like it either, that’s too bad.
Denying what is obvious as to the preaching/teaching in that church, not to mention all the magazines — and then we have the denial, and the “Lay off my wife” routine. No it isn’t spamming at all.
All I’ve got to say is: “Barack Obama is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.”
Oh, and instead of the wife comments, he could say to her, “Why don’t you pass the time with a game of solitaire?”
Or, rather, she to him…
Harris, no election is simply about policy and issues. It’s also about character. Inasmuch as we don’t know the future, we have to be able to view the candidates entire history in order to make an evaluation. That happens in every election. To do look at everything about a candidate — including whether he beats his wife, to use that old example — is to be inefficient in the vetting process.
Your insult to southern Christians is just that — an insult. Here we go again with the real topic of the thread supposedly off limits because why? Christians can’t say they oppose someone because he surrounds himself with angry, venomous people? Any evidence? So far, the evidence about Wright has been accurate. If this turns out to be true about Michell Obama’s speech, if this video exists, you are asking me to believe that a man lives with a woman, has two children with her, but he is oblivious to her hatred of white people, AND you are asking me to vote for someone that stupid, AND you are asking me to believe that he would stay with this woman — and from what I’ve seen it’s a good marriage — whose beliefs are totally 100% the opposite of his because why? It’s the Christian thing to do?
I am mindful of Jesus Christ’s admonition that if we knew the robber would come into the house at night to steal that we would lock the door to keep him out. Well, this Christian is thinking that the door should be locked on Mr. and Mrs. Obama.
Correction on the first paragraph: NOT to look at everything is inefficient vetting.
Harris,
What is bi-polar about insisting in good character, and also insisting on good policy credentials?
It’s always been the case.
Your argument is one hog short of a barbeque…
Quoting his wife accurately is not an attack.
I’m inclined to believe the rumors about the secret tape are true. Trust me, Obama’s people are aware of the rumor, and if they weren’t worried about it, they would be denouncing the smear campaign and demanding that someone bring forth the tape, because they know no such tape exists, because Michelle Obama has never said, and would never say such things.
The fact that they’re staying silent as this rumor percolates just below the surface speaks volumes.
I tend to agree with you NT. I’m sure we don’t have to wait to long.
Night Train said: ’m inclined to believe the rumors about the secret tape are true.
Well there’s a shock.
NT (17) — Perhaps you’re right.
If she’s part of the campaign, then she is subject to the full spectrum of criticism. If he doesn’t want her criticized, he needs to keep her away from teh campaign (and good luck with that).
A Yale and Harvard trained lawyer can’t take a little criticism, or properly respond to it? Maybe we really should end AA in the universities.
KRM, it is strange that this ‘outspoken’ woman is so sensitive, —— when she’s called on her comments, she can’t take it, after all SHE SAID IT, but she doesn’t want anyone to see/hear her say it. What a joke!
