Rants! & Raves!
Here it is, Rants! & Raves!, your weekly chance to sound off. Remember the rules: 1. A Rave! is something that happened during the past week that you’re tickled about and is signified by the word “Rave!” and/or an appropriately happy emoticon.
2 A Rant! is something that happened during the past week that you’re steamed about and is signified by the word “Rant!” and/or an appropriately unhappy emoticon.
3. You may Rant! about something a person said, did or wrote, but you may not Rant! about generally disliking a person.
Have fun!

Rave!
This week my deceased husband’s (my kids’ dad) half-sister found us! I have not seen her for forty years! We’ve both been looking and were overjoyed. My kids are thrilled to have another auntie to send pics of their kids to.
Rants! 8-P None! I’m a happy camper.
Now I have one–my emoticon with sunglasses and toungue out didn’t work!
Rave: The Republicans refusing to raise their hands in the debate when asked to do so if they thought global warming was man made
Rant: The Democrats wanting to raise their hands in their debate and upset that that the moderator wouldn’t ask them to.
Rave: Baseball palyers finally getting caught lying to the world.
Rant: Why it took so long for them to come clean.
Rave: I got to do a photo shoot with Barack Obama last night. Not anyone I’d ever vote for, but very photogenic.
Rant: Someone threatened to call the FBI on my stepdaughter this week for saying “Merry Christmas.” A simple reminder of how dangerous it is to give out too much information on the Internet.
Rave: Today is my teenage daughter’s annual Christmas cookie baking party!
Rave: They’re old enough now they do all the preparation and cleanup!
Rave: I’ll use some of these cookies at the church Christmas concert Sunday night.
Rant: I’m probably going to eat too much cookie dough!

Rave:
I got a chuckle out of Llama’s Global warming comments.
Rave:
I’m not ready for my first ever craft show tomorrow, but I’m really looking forward to it.
Rant? None so far today…
Rant: East coast weather meant that my girlfriend’s flight didn’t arrive at 8pm last night as hoped; she landed at 2am.
Rave: She was still happy to see me when I looked like Death warmed over.
Rave: My favorite baseball player growing up (Craig Biggio) is basically exonerated by the Mitchell Report, though he was never really seriously suspected in the first place.
Rants! 8-P None! I’m a happy camper.
Now I have one–my emoticon with sunglasses and toungue out didn’t work!
Janie, the reason your emoticon doesn’t show is that you’ve got it wrong. It’s not 8-P It’s 8, followed immediately by ) with no space or dash in between.
Rave! Yesterday I put 130 miles on the new Prius:
Trip 1: Back and forth to school Mileage: 36
Trip 2: To San Diego Jewish Academy near La Jolla to watch Numba Two Son play soccer. (The Jewish kids beat the Christian kids, 5-zip.) Mileage: including giving a teammate a ride home, 50.
Trip 3: To conference center near the bay for Numba One Son’s football banquet: 44.
Two days ago, in the Fuel-Slurping Pig, my gas cost for the day would’ve been $28.17
In the Prius, my cost was $9.82 — a cost reduction of nearly two-thirds! Woo-hoo!
Bonus: the TV between me & the window is tuned to a local morning show, which is now showing puppies
A note to all my snowbound friends at WOW: In a few months you will get to experience the wonders of spring, while I will have to consult a calendar to know the seasons changed.
Rant
Learned this week that my mother’s body is practically filled with tumors, with metastisized ovarian cancer being the prime suspect. (Biopsy being done today.)
Rave
Chemo treatments could buy her another 2 years with us. She’s not ready to leave her beloved granddaughters yet.
#10: LV, you forgot to add something along the lines of: “Getting to spend a day involved in the lives of my children: priceless.”
Rant - When one hits the tab for the blog and selects a story to comment on - if one then cycles through post by post, the order isn’t always the same. Very disconcerting.
Rave: Wife and I will celebrate 34 years of marriage with a 5 day Carribean cruise starting tomorrow.
Rant: It ain’t tomorrow yet.
Rave- The sun shone yesterday for the first time in a week or so and it is trying to shine today!!!
(Need shades for today!)
Rant- More snow predicted for the weekend.
Rave- But Daughter L1 is coming home tomorrow from college!
Rave: Our annual Christmas day-trip to NY city tomorrow.
Rant: Look at that weather forecast!
Rant–My sister’s cancer took a turn for the worse two days ago. Metastases on her spinal cord are causing partial paralysis in her legs. I went with my mom to buy a walker for a 33-year-old lady.
Rave–I was pleased that Fred Thompson did not raise his hand, and that it seemed to end the practice in the Republican debate. I was pleased that Alan Keyes was invited and that he had the courage to point out when he had been skipped for several rounds. (Those two men acted so manly.
Rave–Some Christmas packages that we sent to friends in Indonesia made it there in time.
Rave–I feel that things have calmed down a bit on this blog (in relation to me and my worthy “opponents”). I needed to back off, but I feel better now. There is tension between a few others, and I hope that it also settles down.
Rave–After reading comments on Huffington Post yesterday, I’m glad to see that this place is like a mutual admiration society in comparison.
Rant: That the “Academy” section is so rarely updated here.
Rave: Cookies. They are a marvelous invention.
8: Rave: That the blog thread in which a certain person threatened earlier this week to call the FBI about my stepdaughter is still up, so anyone can read it in context for themselves.
Rant: That the two of you don’t just shut up about it already.
Stephen, what is the Academy tab? I asked this question the other day and no one answered.
Stephen,
I apologize for aggravating you and everyone else. And I am content to let it drop. It contributes nothing but ill will on here to continue an argument past it’s expiration date. Since any further response from me on the matter would only continue the ill will, I will comment no further on it.
Have a good weekend!
So that means Anlir will no longer accuse me of following him around. Cool!
Rave: I finally figured out how to find the threads that have new comments since I last read them.
/active/ lists the most 25 active posts, then the 25 that have had comments added most recently.
er, that should say “the 25 most active posts”
If the one you’re looking for isn’t among the top 25, click on the archive tab above, then scroll through the correct month. It can take a while, but you’ll find it eventually.
At the risk of a scepter bonk . . .
Rant: How people fail to order their everyday lives to make life easier—primarily for themselves and secondly, but less importantly, for everyone else. Stuff like 130 miles just to get to and from the errands of the day.
Rave: Gas prices are down now so my refill of the Civic’s tank will cost less this month than last month. Hoo-hah.
Love to hang around, but gotta run. E-mail the bonk.
Rave: Congratulations Metanoia, have a nice trip.
BTW, Metanoia is a Greek word, but I forgot it’s meaning. ???
Rant: Sorry about your mother Karen, I’ll pray for her.
Rave: See my first post on WV today. It was a nice day. It’s an important event. But only an event. In another month, they will all have moved on to other parts of their lives.
Mommy, if you’ll look at the top of this webpage, there’s several tabs marked “front page”, “movies & tv”, “books & music”, etc. “Academy” is the tab towards the right end, beside the “WorldMagBlog” tab (which is green).
Anlir & Outkast, I’m glad to hear it. Bountiful blessings be upon you both!
thumbs up!

Holy cow. Only Kuchinich’s campaign would mis-spell “machine”. Well, ok: at least they have a website.
