Good morning!

Today’s quote is from a movie: “You should’ve gone to China, you know, ’cause I hear they give away babies like free iPods. You know, they pretty much just put them in those t-shirt guns and shoot them out at sporting events.”

  1. Okay. That was funny.
(no slur on human value intended.)
That’s just such a funny word picture.

  2. I googled it.
My husband and I decided to see that movie.

I’ve been wanting to see it, too, EYG!

Someone’s got to know this! I looked it up, so I’m not telling.

  4. Just saw this yesterday! It’s from Juno - funny, funny movie - highly recommend!

  5. Today on my blog I am playing the Dinner Party Game. You know, you list five people from the past that you would like to invite to a dinner party. Stop by and play, if you like.

  6. Hello all. Just checking in. I haven’t been around much lately. I really can’t tell if I am coming or going. I had an interview last week, but I don’t think it went very well. I am thinking that March 1 I am going to start selling cars. I listen to these guys talk about how much they make and just one month of that would solve a lot of my problems. The good news is that even though I did not pay any income tax last year, once the accountant ran everything I only owe about 300.00!!!!!!Yeah. I can swing that. I was really afraid I might have to come up with more. My mother always said that ‘when the ox was in the ditch you had to get him out’. I don’t really want to be a car salesman but it is money, right?

We took our teenage daughter to see Juno and we all liked it a lot. When we walked out, I asked her if her high school was like the one in the movie.

[Withering look] “No, they’re not into sex at my school, it’s mostly alcohol.”

    Oh.

What surprised me, was I don’t remember seeing a pregnant girl at my high school, or at any of the schools my kids have attended. I guess they move them out to continuation school pretty quickly, but would it be better or worse to allow the girls to continue at school? Just musing.

Kim, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. It’s gainful employment, so go for it. You might actually like it! And your tax bill? Just wait for your stimulus rebate and you’ll get it all back. I’m waiting for a second interview this week, but one thing I’ve learned is that the Good Lord provides. There’s something to be learned from what we’re doing now, too. Hang in there!

  9. Michelle - I did a stint substitute teaching in high school when I was between jobs. One had a number of pregnant students - fairly well along - it was disconcerting. I couldn’t decide whether the advanced state pregnancies tended to ‘normalize’ the condition or to scare the others into being more careful. I suspect that it tended to normalize it for the ones that we least wanted it normalized for and to scare the ones who least needed scaring.

As to China, unfortunately they are killing far too many of the babies (pre and post birth).

Victoria, I answered you last night on the Archbishop thread, but I can’t find it now. Hope I answered your question.

Looks like I’m going to have to change my screen name to momoffive…Is it taken yet?

    Blessings!

  13. Just saw the trailer for Ben Stein’s movie “Expelled.” I know WORLD ran a piece on it a while back, but it may be worth talking about again.

This is cool. There is an article about my old neighborhood. I lived in the house on the right in the photo from ‘88 to ‘96. We brought three babies home to that little house.

  17. Congrats, Momof…five!

(Next month I will have a new niece or nephew. One brother cheated and adopted two of his, but after this birth three of my four married siblings will have five children–only three for the fourth.)

  19. Congratulations, momwithabunintheoven!

Here it’s one of those rainy days where you just want to crawl under the covers and stay there all day. Wait, I’m unemployed! I can do that! ;)

Metanoia @13: Thanks for sharing that trailer - it seems that Expelled could be a very powerful film…

I haven’t posted on this thread yet. I don’t know what you’re referring to.

Momof4+1 - How wonderful! God bless you!

Has that situation with your husband improved? I hope he realizes that you will need (& need now) more of his presence & help. If not, let us know (or you can e-mail me), so we can pray towards that end.

    MOMOFFOUR,

    So happy for you!

The wonder of it never ceases, does it?

    Mozeltov!! Momoffour!

Theselittleones is right, the wonder of children never ceases.

My #5 just turned 16. He is my artist. Not a man of many words until you take him to an art gallery and then, when he should probably be fairly quiet, he bubbles over with excitment. If I gave him a choice between going to the beach with his buddies or going to visit my frien Muriel in her 80s, but quite an artist, he’d pick Muriel everytime.

    Kids are such a blessing.

  27. Victoria,
If you read carefully, she said she answered you on a different thread.

  28. EYG,
    Here’s a game that’s a little wacky:

May this AuntofThree join AuntofFive (CherylD) and wish all the best to MomOfFive! What’s the due date? This is just so exciting! (I don’t think I know the age range of your little pumpkins. What do they think about the new addition?)

Victoria, I was referring to the sharia law and the Archbishop of Canterbury post. I responded to you last night, and now I can’t find the thread. I was just wondering if you had seen my post to you there. I didn’t want you to think that I was ignoring your question.

Hello everyone. I’m still alive and kickin’, though worn out from having bronchitis and a killer sore throat. On the plus side, I can still talk somewhat, though my voice is weak and gets tired easily. The antibiotic seems to be working well (at 5 pills for $50 it better!).

I’m supposed to return to Baton Rouge this Saturday, but I don’t think I will be well enough to go.

I don’t know what to think about the Tennessee Vols basketball teams. The men won the other night at LSU when they took away a basket at the end of the game from LSU saying time had already expired. Then the women won last night when there was only 2/10ths of second left and Rutgers fouled. It looks like the clock froze when it got down to 2/10th of a second left. Irregardless of those two games, they’re having a great year. The basketball “gods” have smiled on the Vols this year! :-)

  31. Congrats momoffour!

  32. NJLawyer:

When this baby is born, I’ll actually be “regular aunt” to 18 and grandaunt to one. (This will make my third sibling with five children, plus one brother who stopped at three–he would gladly have kept going, but he wasn’t the one undergoing childbirth, with difficult births.) I hope this one is a girl, though–so far each married sibling has one girl, the rest boys, except for the brother who cheated and adopted a boy and a girl after he had three children by birth, including his regulation girl.

I definitely think of babies as good news.

  33. 33. Gravatar by Karen O 02.12.08 at 8:22 pm

We have such a small family! I am merely the mother of 2 & the aunt of 1. My brother & I (no other siblings) each married an only child, so my niece is my daughters’ only first cousin. But she has twice as many cousins - 2 :-)

  34. 34. Gravatar by NJLawyer 02.12.08 at 9:05 pm

Whoa, CherylD, I stand corrected!!!! My family is small, so I am literally just AuntofThree. When the third child was born, we were all convinced the baby would be a third girl (leg was up during sonogram), so it was a big surprise to have a nephew. Hope you get what you want!

(I also hope we get to go through this pregnancy with MomofFour via regular updates!)

  35. Congratulations, momofsoontobefive! Hope all goes well with the pregnancy.

    From MomofThree/AuntofNineteen :-)

If anyone thinks of it, could you pray for my 5-year-old? He’s in the hospital with some unexplained abdominal pain and will be in for a couple of days while they run some tests. It’s probably nothing serious, but this is the second time it’s happened. My husband is staying with him while I’m home with the younger two. Thanks!

  36. Congratulations to Mom of four/five!

Anlir, glad you’re ok, and thanks for letting us know. Have you seen the movie “Stardust”? I thought it was fairly well done, and enjoyed it enough I saw it twice. Even though I didn’t see it advertised anywhere it got good reviews.

  37. 37. Gravatar by bethd 02.13.08 at 12:56 am

Yes, MMacMurray, I’ll be praying. Let us know on tomorrow’s thread how your son is.

    And congratulations, Momoffive!
