Rants! & Raves! 6.13
Here it is, Rants! & Raves!, your weekly chance to sound off about the week past. Remember the rules:
1. A Rave! is something that happened during the past week that you’re pleased about and is signified by the word “Rave!” and/or an appropriately peppy emoticon.
2 A Rant! is something that happened during the past week that you’re ticked about and is signified by the word “Rant!” and/or an appropriately grumpy emoticon.
3. You may Rant! about something a person said, did or wrote, but you may not Rant! about generally disliking a person.
Have fun!

Rave: Summer. I love it.
I have nothing to complain about.
Stealth Raves….
Rant: I am amazed by our five Supreme Court elites that they think terrorists should be treated like American criminals rather than fanatical killers eager to destroy America. Are these justices wholly ignorant of the enemy and previous Court rulings? Now terrorists will have the expectation to be treated as ordinary Americans. This is as ridiculous as it is dangerous. Why should foreign terrorists, who have never set foot in the United States and who do not respect our laws, enjoy the same rights under our Constitution as U.S. citizens?
Justice Scalia, writing in dissent, said: “The game of bait-and-switch that today’s opinion plays upon the Nation’s Commander in Chief will make the war harder on us. It will almost certainly cause more Americans to be killed.”
Chief Justice John Roberts, in his own dissent to Thursday’s ruling, criticized the majority for striking down what he called “the most generous set of procedural protections ever afforded aliens detained by this country as enemy combatants.”
I wonder what American’s treatment would be like if any of them were caught doing those things in any other country in the world?
Rave: We made a day trip to Highlands yesterday. We spent much of the day looking for a motel in which we stayed on our honeymood 51 years ago. The only thing I had it identify it was a picture of Elvera standing in front of it holding an orchid. We showed the picture to several people and asked if they could place the motel. Several looked at the picture this grey haired lady showed them of this pretty young girl standing in front of a building. The contrast must have been obvious. Only one comment was made. One guy said, “That’s a good picture.” But he also recognized the place. We had passed it several times, but didn’t know to look for it. It was on US 64 on the way home. We stopped and looked around. It was old and decrepid, like we are. But we’re glad we found it.
Rave: An LA studio is very interested in my screenplay.
Rant: The legal documents one must wade through to sell a screenplay is beyond belief.
Congratulations, Adios. Keep us informed on the progress as your script is filmed.
Michelle- We would send you the rain, but the storms come from the West. You just live on the wrong side of the Rockies.
Rave: We were wise enough to buy a house on the bluff, 100ft above the river.
Rant: Posts on this blog regarding mixed race individuals that insist that identifying with one half more strongly than the other is dissing the other or the other’s entire lineage. Being a mixed race individual, I do know from experience that one is treated like the minority half unless one can successfully pass for majority. I do believe those that deny this or try to, er, white wash it either have an undying idea of American utopia or an utter inability to deal with tough issues.
Rave: simple pleasures like a cold beer on hot day. Also teleworking.
second rave: NJ’s post above
second rant: Decrying the Supremes for recognizing that we do have a Constitution and that it matters.
I got some new expensive software to play with today… I’m hyperventilating…
I can’t really play with it until I get some major work done on the main program.

ABC asks if this is the last century of civilization?
ABC asks if it’s the end of the world:

Well, MIM … it may very well be the end of the world, but probably not for the reason ABC offers.
But thanks for the link.
Rave: My home-built PC powered up the first time I plugged it in, and it’s been working without physical problems for a week.
Rant: Still going through the software setup (Ubuntu host, VMWare Workstation, WinXP guest)
Rave: Even the software is over 98% complete.
Rave: I took the Gravatar plunge!
