This isn’t funny. Why would you post this? Do you think this is funny? I wouldn’t post a comic if I didn’t think it was funny. That’s what the word means, you know. Comic.

    Good grief.

  2. Stubob,
While not knee-slappingly funny, it certainly has an element of truth to it. Political cartoons are often different than the ‘regular’ comics in that they are intended to be thought-provoking.

I used to do a small unit on political cartoons when I taught high school. Nobody had explained to the kids about the symbolism and deeper meanings involved in the drawings.

    It’s tragicomedy.

I’m not old enough to remember, but was even Ronald Reagan viewed as the “Great Pumpkin” as he was running? (By the way, does the cartoonist have to get special permission from the Peanuts estate for drawing a cartoon like this?)

You’re right, Theron. I’m old enough to remember, and Ronald Reagan did not please “all of the conservatives all of the time.” The nostalgia effect makes it impossible for anyone to measure up to the image of Reagan in conservatives’ minds now. I like the cartoon, however, as I can identify with Linus’ ever disappointed, yet ever hopeful, world view.

I got it , StuBob. You did it just right. Why didn’t anybody else get it ? Doesn’t anyone else get it? What’s wrong with everyone else around here? It really isn’t too hard to figure it out. Will someone else tell StuBob that he wrote just right?

    Good grief!

NOT ME ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Bob, you tell him, I can’t, Good Grief, I think everyone is NUTS!

  8. The Great Pumpkin Gets it.

Victoria characterizing everyone else as nuts is very precious.

However, she has stated that she is known among people who know her as a “great tease” and a person with a great sense of humor. I have been awaiting eagerly for this side to emerge.

I get it, Victoria. And I am just teasing.
