Homer nods
Our mistakes here at WMB (grammar, facts, theology, etc.) are never left alone by our thorough and meticulous readers. I just want to say thanks. And I also want to say thanks to the Times, who, at 6:25am (Eastern), allowed a caption on the front page of their website read: “Former Gov. Mike Huckabee of Arizona campaigned in the Black River electric co-op in Sumter, S.C. Mr. Huckabee came in third in the Michigan Republican primary.” I have no doubt that someone will be thrown into the East River for this. The image and the caption may have already been changed.
UPDATE! As of 7:15 this morning, Homer woke up.

Arizona, Arkansas, what’s the big deal? If Romney can have two home states, why not Huckabee? Romeny actually gets three if you count Utah.
Michelle Malkin, Michael Medved — it’s all the same. The readers know, even if the editorial interns don’t.
Naw, the Times is still suck on their real love on the right - McCain from AZ . It’s just a Freudian slip.
Well, unless you’re from an “A” state, it can be hard to keep the abbreviations separate. When I lived in Arizona (AZ), I regularly saw people write AR for Arizona.
Here they are–and you almost have to know them all, in this order, because most could be more than one state; you eliminate by thinking first of the abbreviation that can be only one, and then moving on to the other abbreviation that state could have had:
AZ–Arizona
AR–Arkansas
AK–Alaska
AL–Alabama
Well, Adios, Hillary Clinton has two as well–probably a big part of the reason she is running from New York, since that sounds so much more sophisticated than running from Arkansas.
Cheryl, in one sense Hillary is running from Arkansas (away from, that is).
Yes, postal codes can be confusing to the uninformed. But then, to a New Yorker, anything west of New Jersey is the Wild West, isn’t it? MI could be Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi or Missouri. MS could be either of the last two. You could even say MA is for Minnesota or Massachusetts, or even Maine! What were the namers of states thinking, anyway?
Cheryl,
That’s the only explanation I could come up with too - confusing AR for Arizona. But why should it matter?
Did the writer use “AR” and some editor or some software change it to “Arizona”, not to be reviewed again?
OK, who’s Homer and what’s he got to do with this?
I thought Homer worked in a nuke plant, not the NYT.
