Happy Friday!

Today’s quote is from a pastor and author:

“The Bible speaks of a time when all tears shall be wiped away. But it makes no mention of a time when we shall cease to smile.”

  1. I don’t know who said it, but he’s obviously never watched According To Jim.

    John Piper?

  3. I don’t know the specific quote… but it sounds kind of C.S. Lewisy to my ear.

  4. Has anyone heard anything about how Elizabeth Edwards is doing with her treatment for her cancer mets?

  5. I’m pretty sure it isn’t Timothy Wright. :)

  6. Oops! I meant Jeremiah Wright!

  7. I like Piper - it sounds like something he might say, but it doesn’t quite seem like his style of speaking/writing. CS Lewis seems like a good guess too. Since those two are taken already though, I’ll have to come up with someone else.

    I’ll try Charles Spurgeon.

(btw, Googling the quote doesn’t turn up anything…)

Yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s Piper. I think I heard him say it on a youtube video.

    How about Chuck Swindoll?

Whack Job Socialist voted yesterday, you didn’t see a article in your newspaper about it either, to take away the Bush Tax cuts for the Evil Filthy Rich.

Just the thought of Socialists being in control of congress and the white house with no vetoes to control their fiscal insanity, has driven the entire world to the economic abyss of recession. By removing the Bush tax cuts they are bond and determined to create a President Carter like depression and finally bring Satan America to its economic knees.

I wonder if these evil rich folks that hire people will lay some off because of an economy being run into the ground and them having to pay way more in taxes too? They wouldn’t do that would they? IOF they did would that make the economy even worse and wouldn’t the poor poor working folks that have jobs now suffer?

I suggest they lay off socialists if layoffs become necessary. OOPPPSSS….. these lay offs may have already started.

  11. Excuse me, llama, but unfortunately the overspending started when the R party controlled both the White House and Congress, and the President forget how to use the veto choice.

The Quote: I have no clue who wrote it, and those I would have thought of have been taken. Except Max Lucado, so I guess he was the one who said it.

I find it amusing to hear Christians saying they look forward to heaven because some relative will be there. Or all the Gospel Songs about streets of gold. Isn’t the Lord Jesus the One who will be the center of our attention? Gold is so common there, the streets are made of it.

David Horowitz recently suffered the death of his daughter Sarah. YOu should go to frontpagemag dotcom and read the great obit this grieving dad wrote for his daughter.
Has anyone read any good Wm F Buckley obits (about him not written by him.. too many of those)? Buckley was a unique man. Sadly there will be no little brother Raul Buckley, and no Kim Jong Buckley to assume the role of the departed father.
I loved reading Christopher Buckley’ anecdote about the buried treasure hunt!
    What a dad Chris had??

  13. Hey, I was just about to guess Max Lucado, and I got logged out while guessing. I might be wrong, but I don’t think post 11 was there yet when I wrote my killed post. :(

  14. Where is everybody today? (Yeah, I know–over on the posts about Obama’s pastor.) My first guess for the quote was Phil Yancey, but I don’t think he’s a pastor.

Cheryl D. How you can ask where everybody is during the March Madness?

  16. 16. Gravatar by Karen O 03.14.08 at 8:50 pm

Chas - March Madness? Isn’t that a big sale at an appliance store?

Peter L - Yes, I know that the greatest thing about going to Heaven will be to finally see Jesus. I hope we’ll be able to hug Him.

But it is natural to also look forward to seeing again those who’ve passed on.

  17. Chas,

Sorry. I know what March Madness is (sort of–college b-ball, right?), but didn’t know it was happening. It isn’t part of my life. Weird, I know.
