Good morning everyone!
Today’s quote is from a movie: “My desire to be an observer of life was actually keeping me from having one.”

Todays quote is from the Nanny Diaries.
KI, Sorry I didn’t get back to answer your question on Friday. I was in Grand Rapids, Michigan (and it was beautiful).
Thanks, MOMMY. That’s what I thought, but since we live fairly near Grand Rapids, MN, I thought I would make sure.
Just checking in this morning to say hello. Spent the weekend gathering things together and trying to get a grip on everything.
I’ve been wondering about Hillary Clinton’s “gaffe”, where she “mis-spoke” about having been under sniper fire.
Now, if there were another incident in which she really were under sniper fire, then one could accept her explanation that she “mis-spoke”.
But if she never did come under sniper fire at all, then that is just a bald-faced lie.
I haven’t heard any reports about any other time she might have been under fire.
Karen, there was no sniper fire anywhere. Fox has shown videos of her being greeted by a young girl at the airport. The secret service wouldn’t have permitted her to be in danger.
She makes these things up as she goes along.
Like Bill, whatever she says may, or may not, be true. It’s all the same to them.
Joe B.–Enjoy your virtual coffee of the day!
And even if it’s from a pop book, it’s a great quote.
I would second Mommy’s impression of Grand Rapids — it’s one of the bright spots in Michigan.
Post 5– I believe she even gave us the sniper-fire story three separate times ….
Note to NJLawyer:
I’m back after a full weekend — I’ve responded to your Q back on the Nat’l. Day of Prayer thread. I’ll check back there later.
Incidentally, I found another interesting statement related to this subject: “The People of God, the Land of Israel, and the Impartiality of the Gospel,” published in 2003 by Knox Theological Seminary.
Oh, yes indeed, Hillary did encounter snipers and other war-zone dangers in Bosnia — and here’s the shocking footage that proves it!
Did any of you happen to catch Obama’s pastor addressing the National Press something or other this morning on Fox? He is a whack job and historically some of his statements don’t ring true.
“Whack job.” I can see Llama’s influence . . .
And yes, Chas, I have spent time thinking about and praying for the folks on this blog . . . sometimes they even show up in my dreams!
Of course I don’t know what anyone looks like except Lynn, Ivan the Terrible, Paula and TJ.
Frank - Thank you for the link. I especially like the use of the word “snipery”.
Sunday morning, when we were taking prayer requests, my pastor’s wife mentioned that she had read that people were gathering at a certain gas station at some Connecticut town to pray that gas prices will come down. She mentioned, as I did to a friend the other day, that the truth is we Americans pay much less for gas than most of the world.
Her prayer request was for Christians to remember, despite all the scare-stories about the economy, that Jesus is our provider, He will take care of His people.
May we all hold on to that certainty.
Frank, thanks for the link. That evil right wing FoxNews didn’t show the parts about Hillary’s heroism under fire.
Karen, I was just thinking today about the fact that God is our provider. It is one of His names. A name in the bible means something. There was a discussion recently about praying in Jesus name. One part of that is to pray according to His character.
I too identify with Chas in waking up and thinking about some here and praying for them.
I caught part of that speech. I agree with you, Kim.
I just finished reading The Nanny Diaries. I had no idea it had been turned into a movie.
Kim: “historically some of his statements don’t ring true.”
He has his history wrong? I heard him say he wants an apology for slavery, and until he gets one, nothing will change. For someone who claims he’s been running after Christ, I guess he just never read those verses on forgiveness. You don’t need the person who wronged you to apologize before you forgive.
This guy, together with Al Sharpton, will bury Obama, who should be allowed to succeed or fail on his own.
Frank, I’m on my way…..
“You have to be logged in to comment.” I thought I was logged in.
“Of course I don’t know what anyone looks like except Lynn, Ivan the Terrible, Paula and TJ.”
Michelle knows what I look like? I hear I’m a dead ringer for John Knox now, but I’m going to shave off the beard, so we’ll see.
You missed a brilliant dissertation someone could have plagerized for a doctorial thesis. Did you notice my best ones never get online? I would repeat it, but I forgot what it was.
If TJ tries to make you think he looks like Burt Lancaster when shaved, don’t believe him. That was my claim, but my avitar blew it.
If Kimbeley is here, I answered your email on Saturday’s Whirled Views. I tried to reply to you, but it didn’t work. Very strange.
It is nice to know that humans have started to actually see whack jobs when they catch them …eeerrrr…….foaming at the mouth as they presenting their insane ideas to brain dead piggies who no longer care what slop is swilled their way.
It gets more difficult to spot them when the presenter says how he wishes for change, not ofr him but for you. He feels your pain, your hope for change and it unpsets him so much that he dreams about how he is the only one who can bring your hope for change into a future where change is no longer a hpe or a prayer - for everyone, everywhere.
Yes, llama, they’re like the witch on “The Little Mermaid” movie. They just want to help the poor, unfortunate souls.
Wright is waiting for an apology, huh. Let’s see, all the people who participated in slavery have been dead for a while now. I think he’s in for a long wait. I don’t have any patience with people who spend their lives being angry over offenses that weren’t even against them! Wright has most likely experienced discrimination, but he has never been a slave. Sorry, this constant demand for apologies for offenses committed by people long dead is ridiculous. Should those of us whose ancestors fled England because of religious persecution demand an apology from the British government? Don’t forget all those Irish who fled because the English tossed their homes. Oh, and the … you fill in the blank.
I will never say the slavery was good, but the descendants of the slaves now have the right to live in the United States as free citizens. Do you know how many Africans would love to have that opportunity? Slavery was a terrible thing, but it did result in greater opportunities for the descendants of the slaves than if they had remained in Africa.
I posted the story on the “Separation Anxiety” thread, regarding the polygamy situation in Texas.
53 girls between the ages of 14 and 17 were living on the ranch in Eldorado. Of that group, 31 already have children or are pregnant.
The state of Texas did the right thing.
There is much talk about the girls in the FLDS compound. There is little talk about the boys. They were used as field labor until about 16 and then they were considered a threat to the men. They were kicked out or taken away to be on their own somewhere else. Where are all the boys?
Chas, when you get a great dissertation going, copy it over to a Word document, finish it there, then cut and paste it to the ‘Join the Conversation’.
Grandma, I don’t know where the boys are.
I’m certainly grieved to hear that many of the children now have children. I wonder just how the state of Texas is going to handle this. Can you imagine being 14 or 15, being pregnant or with a small baby? The adults involved should be held RESPONSIBLE in every way.
How do you make someone responsible when the damage is already done? The life they have had is ‘normal’ for them. They have been robbed of their childhood.
Lutheran Social Services has been called in to assist in the placement and care of the children.
Pray for all the people who are working with the children. It will be a daunting task emotionally for them.
Grandma,
When I say “responsible” . . . I mean those who encouraged or allowing their daughters to marry under the age of 17 which is against the law in Texas. This group obviously believes they are above the law, however, they must be held responsible for their daughters to marry, and if the men they married had other wives, this too is against the law.
If this were ‘normal’ then they wouldn’t need to lie about it, they aren’t truthful because they know its wrong.
Grandma, someone else, at another time (It could have been you.) suggested the same thing.

This is embarassing.
You are forcing me to admit that I don’t know how to do that.
Chas,
1. Open up your word processor on your computer–probably Microsoft Word or MS Works.
2. Type your statement of enlightenment.
3. Highlight your epiphany by clicking the mouse and dragging simultaneously or pressing the Ctrl key and the A key.
4. Right-click your mouse on the text–you should have a choice called “Copy”. Click that. It will now save your brilliance on an invisible “clipboard”.
5. Come over here, click on the comments box to get a cursor, right-click your mouse, and choose “Paste”.
Presto-chango, your opus should appear!
I recommend trying this with something short and simple until you’re comfortable with it.
Victoria,
Listen to this.

Cameron, Thanks for taking care of Chas. Don’t be embarrased Chas–we all had to learn these things.
Cameron, I’ve been trying that, and when I got to step 5, “paste” was not one of the options highlighted.
This is a test, this is only a test. This is a test, this is only a test.
I don’t know why it added the same line twice. But anyhow, I know what to do.
Bear with me here, I will be messing around.
This is a test, this is only a test.
Thanks Cameron and Grandma.
You may now find that the great tomes I’ve been talking about weren’t so great after all.
There has been a terrible tornado in Suffolk, Va. (That’s close to Portsmouth, across from Newport News.
This is my last test. I will just go to “Preview” and delete, henceforth.
Grandma,
I don’t have the time to listen to the whole tape, however, I don’t believe anyone has an excuse to break the law. If its broken, and the individuals are unaware of, or because they are too young, than it can be explained to them in detail, but that doesn’t mean it can GO ON as before. The adults in charge should be held accountable by the laws of the state in which they are apprehended.
If we took the tack in this country that being ignorant of polygamy was OK, or that everyone who participated wasn’t at fault, then everyone could do as they please. If you take this further, you can come up with many different scenarios.
It’s a lot easier NOW to stop this from spreading, ….. if it continues and children are having children it can go around forever, girls 14 years or so, with many, many young girls being molested, not realizing there is another life, one in which they can marry someone of THEIR CHOICE, around their own age, and of LEGAL AGE.
Chas - I find it simpler to just paste what I want to enter here into an email to myself and then copy it from there, if need be. I don’t necessarily even send the email - I just bring up a “New Message” box and type the copy there first.
Victoria,
I do hope they do the right thing by the children. Yes, the news about the teen girls is indeed damning. And since they are only in the commune, and probably kept from time alone with boys, no one can blame it on rebellious teenagers or the outside world–it’s on their doorstep.
Ignorance is no excuse. If you speed because you didn’t see the sign, you have still broken the law and you will still be fined if caught.
The link tells that there are around 400 lost boys from this sect who were put on the streets. They can’t call home and they have been disowned and they are considered dead.
Chas,
Congratulations, looks like you have it. Looking forward to hearing more from you.
Chas,
My guess as to why the line posted twice is that you hit the “Paste” key twice. It’ll paste as often as you hit the key, which is a nice shortcut if you need to repeat something frequently or something that is tediously long or complicated to retype.
