Rants! & Raves! 6.27

Gravatar  28 Comments

Here it is, Rants! & Raves!, your weekly chance to sound off about the week past. Remember the rules:

 1. A Rave! is something that happened during the past week that you’re pleased about and is signified by the word “Rave!” and/or an appropriately peppy emoticon.

2 A Rant! is something that happened during the past week that you’re ticked about and is signified by the word “Rant!” and/or an appropriately grumpy emoticon.

3. You may Rant! about something a person said, did or wrote, but you may not Rant! about generally disliking a person.

Have fun!

:-)

Can I rant about being restricted in what I can rave about? :-)

Or perhaps I should rave about being restricted in what I can rant about! :-)

Rant! :-( My company’s stock tumbled this week and now my options are worthless.

    Rave! :-) I realize it’s only money.

:-) We celebrated our 32nd anniversary. She got flowers (the shop even replaced the roses so they would last longer!), I got an Aretha CD.

:-) Daughter gets the interview she wanted.

:-( Daughter pays all the attention to interview and forgets the card to the parents.

:-( And am still waiting, post-interview. I don’t know if I should be singing Be Still My Soul, Sounds of Silence, or may be In the Still of the Night (it was our anniversary after all).

Rave, rave, rave: Hubby is coming home tomorrow for a week!

:-) Five days of an empty house! I’ve been writing, cleaning, going through junk, tossing papers and reading. Glorious!

:-( Smoke has been challenging–two of those days with miserable headaches, including now.

:-) Everyone will be here on Sunday!

Rave :-) Root canal earlier this week took away the pain from a very painful (& infected) tooth.

  7. :) We celebrated our 36th anniversary. Or perhaps I should say we didn’t celebrate. We had a very busy weekend and just wanted to stay home!

:) Enjoyed a fun weekend with TL and her family. Enjoyed a local festival, a bluegrass festival sans daughter’s family, and a day at Canal Park in Duluth, Mn. A very nice three day weekend for us. A joy to watch the little ones have the simple pleasures of enjoying throwing rocks into the lake and weaving in and out of a water exhibit.

:( Came home to find a message that my dad had called an ambulance for my mom, because she couldn’t seem to get her breathe.

:) After an overnight stay, my mom seems fine. She came home and promptly resumed painting her kitchen walls. The only admission she would make was that she is a little tired. She will be 80 in a couple of weeks. We will have a big celebration.

:) Finally getting a garden in that I have been waiting for, for quite a while.

    Mumsee: happy for you!

  8. :) 41 years of life

:) A big brother who just happened to be driving through town last night and called and asked if he could crash in my den a few hours and take me out to breakfast for my birthday

:) A very full work schedule this month (and work for next month already)

:) The chance to take half the day off just to get outside for the first time all month, and go hiking

:( It’s very muggy already, so hopefully Radnor Lake’s shade will keep it pleasant enough for a hike

:) A good housemate who moved in last weekend

:) A great God who gave us the beautiful month of June

:) Looking forward to the birth of a new grandchild in 2 weeks.

:) Just got word another is on the way–early spring!

:) The weather has been perfect this week!

:) Nothing to rant about this week!

:-( I would like to know why the medication labels can’t be written large enough for a normal sighted person to read them–particularly when you’re in pain and need to take the meds fast. Why did I have to find a magnifying glass to be able to read how much I’m supposed to take? Couldn’t the dosage requirements have been written in 12 font?

    :-) Happy birthday, Cheryl!

  11. 11. Gravatar by Harris 06.27.08 at 12:25 pm

:-) Yeah, Happy Birthday youngster! Have fun hiking!

:-( Another 70 brave service members were killed this month.

:-) George Bush has hit a record low 23% approval rating. How low can he go?

  13. 13. Gravatar by llama 06.27.08 at 2:29 pm

    Godlumps,

I’m guessing Bush’s approval rating could never be as low as the record low 12% approval rating this do nothing Democratic Congress has but your being happy about his low rating speaks to your view of what an American is all about.

:) Yesterday the Supreme Court struck down the D.C. gun ban! Hurrah!!!

  15. 15. Gravatar by llama 06.27.08 at 3:09 pm

:-) Daughter scored 170 points higher on her second SAT try. Math score now high - reading and writing still low. Lucky for her she wants to be an engineer which should suit her likes and skill set better.

:-) Daughter loved our tour of University of AZ last Friday. Since she qualifies for a full scholarship there, her parents are glad she liked the U of A.

:-( Daughter really wants to go out of state for college like her mother and father did. Her mother wants to her to stay in state and if she goes far away I’m guessing Momma Llama would be depressed. I find this odd because the farther I am away, the happier my wife is and my daughter is just like me :-)

:-) 100 lap race tonight and Indy Cars are racing in Richmond tomorrow night.

:-( Country now fears Marxist Obama might become president and the stock market, economy and public sentiment / optimism plummets to near 30’s lows as a result. The country now realizes and remembers that socialists nearly killed them and the country under Carter when they controlled congress as well. They also know what horrors they have already lived through since the left took control 20 months ago and gasoline was $2.50 a gallon, the housing and credit crisis did not exist, unemployment was 4.5% the economy was growing at 3% and there was no recession. They know whats coming and they are scared: More government control and spending, higher taxes, global isolationism in trade, the stealing from tax payers to give to those that do not pay taxes, American surrender in Iraq and Afghanistan, insane restrict and tax carbon credits that will destroy businesses, runaway inflation, amnesty for illegal aliens, country wide marriage for gays, liberal supreme court justice appointees and an all out Socialist / Marxist assault on individual freedom especially religious freedom. God help us all.

 Mumsee’s hubby is coming back to Mumsee.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHERYL!

    Cheryl - Happy 41st Birthday!

Is your housemate also a Christian? Did you ask for references (I assume you did)? Do you spend much time hanging out together?

:-) Boy v.1.0 got his first bicycle today, a gift for his 6th birthday, and he is totally thrilled with it. It’s fun to see him so happy.

:-) We found cork floor tiles (for the addition to our house) REALLY cheap at the Habitat for Humanity store in Portland.

    Happy birthday, Cheryl D!

    Happy anniversarys, KI and Harris!

Mumsee, enjoy your week with your hubby. :-)

    Llama,

Bush is a a complete disaster. So is the Democrat Congress for not holding this sorry excuse for a president accountable. Out with every one of them.

  20. 20. Gravatar by GodLumps 06.27.08 at 9:39 pm

    Llama,

Don’t you get tired of being wrong all the time? I did a little fact checking, and your boy Bush is even more disliked than congress. That’s gotta hurt for Loyal Bushies.

    Bush
    Approve: 23%
    Disapprove: 73%

    Congress
    Approve: 23%
    Disapprove: 72%

  21. Source?

  22. Happy BD Cheryl D! Only 41? Not quite still wet behind the ears, eh?

    Rave, Happy birthday, Cheryl!!!

Rave, those of you who have been following our automobile saga might find it somewhat amusing that we had not one, but two flat tires on the road to town this evening. Thanks to the repair work done on our highway (they recently applied new large gravel bits, the dirt was much easier on the car). The good part was that we did not fall off the grade and plummet the several hundred feet to the bottom and that we found the first flat just after we cleared the gravel onto pavement and almost directly at the end of a friend’s driveway. The second was shortly after. Thank You.

Camron- if you were talking to me, here’s my source. Llama, I don’t think has one, other than whatever he imagines. Llama, give us your source. Cameron’s asking.

    http://www.pollingreport.com/

  25. Hmm, can’t find exactly what Mr. Lumps posted–it’s a site of hundreds of polls, and his link is to the main page. Did find this, though, that’s a bit more accurate: http://www.pollingreport.com/BushJob.htm
It’s a table of dozens of national polls on Bush’s approval rating, many of which vary from Mr. Lumps’ numbers.
Here’s the summary table for Congress:

  26. 26. Gravatar by GodLumps 06.28.08 at 2:38 pm

    Cameron,

My numbers come from the most recent polls available. Even the FOX News poll has congress equaling Bush approve minus disapprove. Both score a pathetic -50. We need to get these clowns out of there. Especially the boss clown in the Oval Office. I don’t see Llama’s source of misinformation anywhere. None of the polls site his numbers. hmmm… not surprising.

It does, Llama. It really, truly does. When someone is running our nation into the ground, I’m overjoyed that my fellow citizen’s do not approve, like the Loyal Bushie drones of Stepford obviously do. They are the worst kind of America Haters.

  28.
    People who hate Bush.
