I have been harassing people about why they post. Several people have said, “Random, why do you keep asking this? We answered you.”
The people who answered me had good answers. For the most part, they were people I would expect to have good answers. The people who refuse to answer me, tend to be the people who post most frequently, most vociferously, and most cluelessly.
It’s like watching an ant hill and watching the ants scurrying around. Try asking an ant, “Why are you scurrying so energetically?”
I suppose the ant might answer, “Because the Queen said I must. Don’t bother me! I’m late! I’m late”
The White Rabbit is a fictional character in Lewis Carroll’s book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. He appears at the very beginning of the book, in chapter one, wearing a waistcoat, and muttering “Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!” Alice follows him down the rabbit hole into Wonderland. The Rabbit shows up again in the last two chapters, as a herald-like servant of the King and Queen of Hearts. [wikip]
It’s time for Nick Peters (one of the many who exhibits ant-like behavior) to show up and declaim, “Notice it’s a WHITE RABBIT!”

Now, my reason for coming to WV is to tell those who may find it of interest that FoxNews.Com is reporting that Saudi Arabia is requiring that dog and cat owners keep their pets inside in an effort to keep the sexes apart, inasmuch as it is well-known that dogs especially are “babe magnets” and they don’t want cunkling munkling going on in the parks when men walk their dogs. The religious police are afraid this is going to catch on. Shocking.

That is not a serious answer to my question.
Random– I post because the Benevolent Dictator (may she soon recover) and the powers that be allow me to. I also enjoy the conversation with people I would otherwise never meet in person, though there are a few that live within two or three hours drive of me (Pauline and Outkast). Perhaps we should set up a Mississippi River WMBer picnic? Perhaps not. Not only are there other people of like faith here, but rarely do I meet agnostics or atheists in my day to day dealings. Let’s just say I am expanding my world a little.

Exxon posted 2nd quarter profits of $11.68 Billion on sales of $138.1 Billion for a profit margin of 8.46% The stock plunged 5% after these disappointing numbers. The profit margin declined and the profit is now 15% lower than the average US Company and 1/3 the net profit of Microsoft other tech companies.
Exxon’s taxes paid climbed to 25.75% of sales, the highest of any US company or 3 times their profit and it is now paying a whopping $274,000 a minute in US taxes - the most by far of any US company. Exxon stock is now 16.5% off its high for the year and heading lower. With US consumption falling, the world economies collapsing, while Exxon is not allowed to drill for oil in the USA and their reserves declining, the outlook for the company going forward is questionable.
But, even though the US economy is treading water at 1.9% growth and the US dollar showing signs of recovery, Europe’s economy is collapsing rapidly. While US stocks are way down for the year in mid double digit loses international stocks have fared far worse.
General Motors is in real trouble with their announced $15.5 Billion dollar quarterly loss. Sad days are ahead for the world’s once all of the US car companies like they did every other industry where unions were strong like steel, manufacturing and the airlines and so many more.
463,000 Americans have now lost their jobs since it became likely the Marxist Obama would be the next president and the Republicans would not be able to hold 41 seats to be able to filibuster the massive tax hikes and other insane economic policies the socialists are proposing.
The left refuses to allow US oil companies to drill or oil or for US companies to provide other energy sources in the USA causing the greatest transfer of wealth from Americans to foreign depots who what you dead - now $700 billion a year. These people, if you can call them that, are very sick puppies. The left usually steals from rich Americans to give to poor Americans and illegal aliens they want to give amnesty to. Now they are stealing from poor Americans, trying to make all Americans poor and giving it all to Islamic terrorists and Hugo Chavez - their real buddies.
The fear America will likely go completely socialist and that they will destroy the entire world’s economy, like they did when Jimmy Carter was president, has now spread to the rest of the world and the outlook is bleak for all concerned and foreign economies are beginning tumble like dominoes.
Pray you do no lose your job, your home and go bankrupt like so many more Americans will over the next two years. But, you asked for it by electing these Anti American nitwits.

I see on a Drudge link to “Politico” that Obama has a solution to the oil problem. Oil companies will rebate $500 to individuals, $1000 to families to pay for fuel.
I hear that his permanent solution is for properly inflted tires and tune ups.

Why are you upset that Exxon had profits that are below the average for a US company?
Obama is a Marxist. He hate all companies and profits of any kind - except those that donate them all to his campaign of course. He would take the food out of babies mouth and give it to another if the baby’s parents actually paid for the food with profits they made working.
Do you realize that the $500 a person Obama wants to steal from oil companies is 14 times Exxon’s profits? He wants to confiscate 14 times Exxon’s profits. He must be evil. Does this egomaniac think he can get way with the largest theft ever perpetrated on a innocent company - one who has done absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever?
Would you like it if this Marxist whack job showed up at your bank and told them. Chas has too much money. The average Americana’s net worth is $40,000. People can refuse to answer you. They have a right to do that, especially if they feel they’ve been insuled by the sentence.

Victoria, I now read on Fox that an Obama aide has said the McCain has manufactured the race ruckus. One wonders how this is so, considering the words came out of Obama’s own mouth.
NJL, Obama can’t remember what he heard, it appears he isn’t able to remember what he says as well.

Obama wants to give everybody $ because that is how he wants to buy, er, win votes. Giving away $ is an old and honored way for Democrats to win elections (Tamany Hall).
I am embarrassed that W and Republicans signed on to giving away $ a couple of months ago. My wife and I got back $400 but I am sure that we will pay back way more than that addition to the national debt.
As for the $ Obama wants to take from Exxon Mobil, do you think he was going to leave Chas’ Chevron and all the others out?

Who knew that Worldmag would become a Sanctuary for that rare species - a “Talking Llama”? There are lots of llama’s around, but a Talking Llama is a rare species. Scientists say it only occurs in llama’s that carry both the “Michael Savage” gene and the “Ann Coulter” gene. Sadly, the Talking Llama has an inherent defect as a result of carrying both genes: it makes them particularly vicious and prone to angry outbursts. As of yet, scientists have not found an effective therapy or cure for it. If one encounters a Talking Llama, they should not do anything to further antagonize it. The best thing to do is walk away quietly.
I post if I think I have something worth contributing.
Also for the sense of community: I can “meet” and listen to people from all over the place, geographically, philosophically and otherwise, without leaving home.

Make It Man thought I was reply to him. I wasn’t. This produced a “Who’s on First” series of misunderstandings.
To make misamends, I will now answer #5 and #6.
I will say first of all, although I don’t necessarily agree with Make it Man on lots of things (only natural since I am participating in a web site where I am a non-Christian among conservative Christians, a man among a lot of women, a heterosexual tolerant of homosexuals among a lot of [people not very tolerant of], a lone radical agnostic among small number of atheists, etc….
I don’t have any quarrel with Make it Man. (I hope you feel the same way, MiM.)
So to #5. I see rabbits running across the road from time to time so the rabbit population is “fine.” If not, they fix it quickly, quick like a bunny. They have been staying away from the garden for a while. They usually do after I’ve shot one. Most of the rabbits in my neighborhood are neither white nor black, but gray, like most cats at night.
And to #5. That is a perfectly good answer. I rank it up with Victoria’s “Why not?” I don’t know if her answer and your answer reveal any information about the sex of the poster.

Your answer makes sense to me. Mississippi is not quite a convenient location for me. However, one of my brothers is sort of in that area, but as he was recently diagnosed with bi-polar disease (this is true), perhaps you don’t want to send him an invitation. Expanding your world a little is good. That’s one of the things I do, though the expansion doesn’t change my mind that much, no more than it does most people’s minds here. A mind can be expanded without changing? I suspect so.

I don’t know if you’re still on this post, but I just read something you wrote on the “Purity” post: “I have a friend who drinks and smokes pot and does other drugs with his minor daughter almost on a daily basis. He became upset when I asked him if he was sleeping with her too but he didn’t answer my question either. So I asked him what stopped him from sleeping with his daughter, if he wasn’t sleeping with her, and this even upset him more but still I got no answer. I’m guessing it is a 50/50 proposition.”
I would urge you to report your “friend” to Child Protective Services, for his daughter’s sake. What he’s doing is illegal and child abuse. His daughter may have been so affected by the drugs and alcohol that she doesn’t know how to get out of it herself. Anyway, she is a minor and it is abuse to expose her to those substances.
