Tucker rocks
Early on in the presidential campaign, I was in touch with John McCain’s press secretary Tucker Bounds. I liked him then. I like him even more now. Last week, John McCain debuted a campaign ad suggesting that Barack Obama is a mere “celebrity” candidate, no more ready to lead the nation than Paris Hilton or Britney Spears.
This week, Hilton responded with a spoof video — in which she reclines in a lounge chair, scantily clad — on the website Funny or Die:
“Hey America, I’m Paris Hilton and I’m a celebrity, too. Only I’m not from the olden days and I’m not promising change like that other guy. I’m just hot,” Hilton said, speaking as she reclined in a pool chair in a revealing bathing suit and a pair of pumps. “But then that wrinkly, white-haired guy used me in his campaign ad, which I guess means I’m running for president. So thanks for the endorsement white-haired dude.”
Hilton then unveils her energy policy, taking a page each from McCain’s offshore oil drilling plan and Obama’s incentives energy incentives.
McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said Hilton’s position was closer to McCain’s than Obama’s. “Paris Hilton might not be as big a celebrity as Barack Obama,” Bounds said, “but she obviously has a better energy plan.”

why . . . . why . . . WHY does it take the Airhead-in-Chief to come up with an energy plan that makes both Hussein and McLame seem like total jabronis?????
I actually think Paris’ plan would sound like even the slightest chance of reality. Oh man, I am feeling very queezy! Methinks I need a glass of ginger ale to soothe my nerves………..
I saw the video and it was funny. Paris Hilton has a better handle on the real issues facing Americans than anyone in Washington. If she gets it, why don’t Polosi and Reed get it? Here’s a thought, its their way or the Highway.
Jabroni n. — In professional wrestling, a wrestler who loses in order to make another wrestler look good; also called jobber.
Webster’s New Millennium Dictionary of English (via Dictionary.com)
If we can’t “drill our way out” of this, we’d be smart not to burn up America’s oil in SUV’s, but reserve it against future peak oil prices. The best economic use for oil is air transportation and shipping. The most valuable oil is the last oil pumped. The longer our oil stays in the ground, the more barrels we have as a share of global reserves.
Republicans got us into this crisis. When they had a chance to do something, they mocked Jimmy Carter’s solar panels.
Does anyone really think Paris came up with this plan herself. Let’s say Paris Hilton’s script writer has a better plan than Obama.
Paris rocks. When it comes to PR, messaging, and connecting with the mainstream America, Tucker Bounds ain’t fit to hold her chihuahua Tinkerbell.
anyone seen the mccain video attacking obama and using all the anti-christ metaphorical language?
roflmao pointing at 1 & 2
fishook!!!
Tucker rocks
Tucker Bounds and Steve Schmidt are McCain’s puppet-masters. Just as McCain couldn’t write his own books, he now cant speak his own mind.
Somebody, please explain P-E preoccupation with celebrity.
Paris Hilton is considered “hot”?!?
No accounting for taste, I suppose. Of course, she said that about herself. Even Jon Rowe described himself as good-looking.
Funny or die eh?
Do we get to choose?
#4 Scroopy,
Only the weak minded believe when propagandists tell them that we can not drill our way out of this one. I’m sure you are not one of these people who instantly realize that these ideologues are liars and their assumptions are false and these people will get you broke and dead before you know it.
Only the whack jobs think that if you are short of vegetable’s and livestock, and are starving to death, the one thing you should not do is to plant a bigger garden and raise more cattle, chickens, and pigs thinking that you might be dead before you can harvest them. I’m sure you are not one of those either.
TJ,
Paris thinks she is hot as much as Obama thinks he is the second coming of Christ.
Barry has called on the U.S. to totally do away with our use of oil by the end of our generation. Hmm, I wonder how he’s going to fly around the country like a rock star celebrity?
#10 MIM,
Choice is good, but socialists won’t let you have any.
You’ve got to admit, Llama, your analogy between drilling for oil and growing crops is not acknowledged universally as a self-evident truth. Sounds whacky, in fact.
Wait! Wait! Didn’t Henry Ford subsribe to the modern day view of choice?
“You can have any color you want, as long as it’s black.”
What IS “acknowledged universally as a self-evident truth,” Scroop? I can’t think of a single thing!
What this also shows is how easy it is to “have a plan” and launch it to the media to be carried to our listening ears and make us seem smarter than we are.
Talk!
Speeches!
Meida hype!
I am still waiting for an actual campaign to begin.
Until we get an actual debate with both candidates on the same stage responding to the same questions and to each other, this campaign will not have begun. The novice candidate for President of the USA in this race has never, to my knowledge, ever even shared such a platform or stage with a leading conservative on equal terms in his entire political life. And even if he actually condescends to debate McCain, this may remain true for Obama for the rest of his life too.
An AMAZING protection mission has long been in play for Obama, care of the mainstream media (his campaign leaders). We are being protected from the truth.
Obama’s rhetoric includes bold and arrogant statements that he is willing to face conservatives and take on anyone to debate his ideas at any time. But he NEVER follows through. Never has, and maybe, never will. Why should he?
Yes, Joel, so far the campaigns have seemingly been run totally by the media. I have high hopes that McCain will hold his own nicely against Obama in an actual debate setting, and I hope they start holding those soon so we can actually see a debate of the issues.
#15 Scropopy,
If you were short of water and thirsty because your well was running dry, would you not dig an new one, or dig the old one deeper, hoping to dig your way out of being dead parched?
I’m sure you won’t like that analogy either. Only lefties would say ‘hey, before I can get a new well dug my old one will probably be dry and I will be dead anyway so why dig a new well?’
The problem with lefties is that they are always short term thinker and they are horrible at picking proper assumptions and these mistakes lead them to insane conclusions.
10 years ago these same whack job socialists said we shouldn’t drill for any oil anywhere in our country but ship $700 Billion overseas every year to terrorists who want us dead instead. Now look where we are? If that wasn’t the stupidest decision ever, now you want us to believe you that the largest mistake of all time you fooled us into 10 years ago is again the best thing for us to do today too?
You must think we are as weak minded as you are - another poor assumption on your part. If we would have drill, drill, drilled, 10 years ago we would have at least another 5 million barrels of oil flowing today keeping at least $350 billion extra a year in this country to fuel our economy rather fueling our own beheading. But I guess we still have you for that.
I hope you are not upset when I say ‘fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.’ We have learned long ago to never believe what a lefty says because we have learned that they lie all the time, are wrong about everything and will get dead broke and just plain dead if you do. There will be no shame on me this time. You lefties just need to get out of the way and let the adults fix this problem.
Don’t make us spank you in public
Justus331, from yesterday. Don’t pack your bags yet. We have competition. Regardless of what TJ and Llama say, Paris Hilton looks better on TV than I do. Also, if she had pockets, she would have the MSM in them.
Of course, I could make a deal with her and appoint her energy czar. I was going to give that job to SteveG so he could develop perpetual motion.
Seriously here,
I just saw an e-mail video from Vertigo where this guy (Glen Kertz, I think) says that we can make fuel from algae. He says that 10% of New Mexico could provide all the fuel the US uses. His statement (I can’t verify this):
Corn provides 18 gal of fuel, per acre, per year.
Palm oil, 700/800 gal/acre/yr
Algae, 20k gal/acre/yr.
On the chat section after that, some guy says that so far, only one liter of fuel has been produced from algae. But since Goddard’s first rockets exploded, the Wright Bros could take off and land on the wings of a 757, and Ford’s first cars couldn’t go 20 miles without problems. this may be worth study.
Meanwhile: Drill here, drill now.
As Rush says, “We can’t inflate our way out of this.”
Chas, I’ll wait on your word, since I respect you that much.
SteveG: I used a word I am familiar with since I spent 9 years in the professional wrestling circuit here in New England. The term jabroni has entered into our american lexicon to mean “loser”.
Welcome to the 21st century.
Oh, Chas….I just thought of this, too. If the Ambassador to Ireland thing won’t come to fruition, how about I officially be named the nation’s Culinary Czar!
I don’t think the term “psycho chef” would meet with SteveG’s approval.
re #4 - “Republicans got us into this crisis. When they had a chance to do something, they mocked Jimmy Carter’s solar panels.”
How many solar panels did it take for you to drive to work this morning?
How many solar panels were utilized delivering the produce in your fridge to the local supermarket?
How would solar panels have lessened the uses of crude oil?
Crude oil is a NATURALLY occurring resource and cannot be manufactured. Even synthetic oil uses crude as a base. The manufacture of windmills and solar panels take crude to develop the chemicals to manufacture casings, wires, coatings, etc.
So exactly HOW did the Republicans cause all this?
Wow, you people are embarrassing yourselves. It’s must be humbling to learn that Paris is just like you. She obviously doesn’t read up on issues before commenting either.
So let me make sure I get this. Tucker Bonds’s great argument is that McCain’s energy plan is closer to Paris Hilton’s, and that is a reason why it’s better than Obama’s. Really? They are fronting the Paris Hilton endorsement?
People, Paris Hilton fans are just laughing at McCain because she called him old.
But hey, if that is the way they want to argue it, they should feel free!
In the meantime, perhaps Barack should put some energy into soliciting Paris’s opinion on regulating speculation and enacting a use-it-or-lose-it policy for existing oil permits!
She might flip her position.
I saw that commercial and I thought her plan was McCain’s. Drill, conserve and invest in alternatives.
Drill, conserve, and invest in alternatives.
Sounds like a plan. What are we waiting for?
Post #102 in WV, I posted the cited video. I now give you Mrs. Hilton’s (her mom) response to McCain’s Paris ad.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QVepkuOxqI
I personally am looking forward to the Jib Jab guys making a video about the Energy issues.
I just love the taste of algae in the morning especially when mixed with Tofu but, I find it hard to get at the local supermarket now a days. I know why too now that I found out you can make 20,000 gallons of gasoline in your backyard with it. I’m guessing that I won’t find in the produce section any time soon and, if I do, it will probably cost $400 a gallon with all the carbon credits I will have to buy from alGore just to eat it for my personal methane production.
I’m not going to like going back to plain Tofu, it was a horrible breakfast experience adn no one should suffer so, and I don’t care how much bio diesel you can make with Tofu either and how much it costs me in carbon credits for soy wate products. Being a pro biotic beaner and naturally producing methane is just too important if you want to survive the socialist created energy crisis that we are suffering from.
Obama’s new energy strategy and campaign slogan -’Inflate Yourself, Be a Beaner’
T. Boone Pickens says he’s an oil man and we can’t drill our way out of this crisis.
If we had put a $2/gal. tax on gas 10 years ago, we would have conserved, developed alternatives, and kept more of our own money — and kept millions of tons of carbon out of the atmosphere.
Any additional offshore drilling must be conducted through a national trust that conserves oil reserves as an investment against peak oil prices, so that we have this form of energy available for its best economic uses, such as air transportation and shipping. Why burn up our oil now inefficiently at $125 per barrel if the industry think the price will go up to $300 or $500?
Well water is replenished by the rain, crops are grown in the sunshine. Digging and planting are rational. Oil isn’t renewable. Drilling leads to diminishing quantities.
LOL, HRW, that’s old news. The fact is, you still cannot show us video of Mrs. Hilton saying she is now voting for Obama, so what’s your Canadian socialist-flavored point?
Oil isn’t renewable. Drilling leads to diminishing quantities.
I disagree with both those points, Scroop. ALL natural resources appear to be renewable (given enough time), and common sense tells us that drilling will lead to INCREASED quantities of oil.
Wherever you’re getting your material, you seriously need to find a new source.

You wrote: Wow, you people are embarrassing yourselves. It’s must be humbling to learn that Paris is just like you. She obviously doesn’t read up on issues before commenting either.
Sir, my IQ is about 100 points higher than the Airhead-in-Chief’s right about now. By the way, ole bean, I did not see any viable SOLUTION from you concerning the energy policy. Have you one????
If not, then you are no better than any Dummycrat who complains til they are blue-state in the face, offering nothing to compensate for the emptiness of real policy.
Scroopy,
You are easily fooled by oil men. T Boone has invested millions of dollars in wind farms in west central Texas and wants to get people to invest with him and get the government to provide him with the right of ways required to get this electricity to large urban areas where it is needed. If he can’t get the ROW’s and people to take him pout of his investment he will lose his millions like he did on his Yahoo bet.
You also failed to note that T Boone also said that we must drill for new oil and gas when he was pressed by folks to explain what he meant by ‘we can’t drill our way out this’.
what he was really saying is hey, I need to get some ROWs or dump my wind farm investment on some fools - like you.
Why is it you only tell half the story or half truths? Are you lazy like so many on the left, a pathological liar like Obama and the leadership of the left or just not ambitious enough to know or care about the truth? Just wondering cause truth keeps getting in your way and normal folks would find that exasperating at best.
One thing is for sure. As dumb as the Blondey Paris Hilton is, she hway smarter than and has as a better energy plan than Obama or anyone on the left does that that says no to increasing the supply of oil while not reducing the demand for it.
“Drill, conserve, and invest in alternatives.
Sounds like a plan. What are we waiting for?”
I don’t know MIM. I don’t know.
Paris just wants to keep herself in the news. She proves McCain’s point that she’s a “celeb” and so is Obama. Americans wouldn’t vote for Paris, and hopefully, they’ll be smart enough — well, at least 51% with the proper electoral numbers — not to vote for Obama either.
How many days left?
The whole Obama celebrity thing is McCain’s jealousy that he is Wrinkly Old White Haired Dude.
For the record. Here is McSames celebrity laundry list:
Jay Leno: 10 times
David Letterman: 8 times
The Daily Show: 12 times (or 13?)
Conan O’Brien: 3 episodes
Larry King Live: 9 times
Saturday Night Live: twice
Live with Regis and Kathie Lee (!): once
Entertainment Tonight (!!): twice
The View: twice
Tony Danza Show (!!!): once
“The Wedding Crashers”!
and an episode of “24″
What shows has Obama appeared on and how many times?
Ken Khachigian, Reagan’s chief speech writer in 1980 and now McCain’s top California strategist, said Reagan and McCain both benefited from their celebrity status, Reagan as an actor and governor, McCain as a POW and senator.
“You are easily fooled by oil men.”
We were all fooled by Bush/Cheney. The only difference is some of us are adult enough to admit it.
Why do you try to argue with someone you think is easily fooled, unobservant, mendacious, lazy, pathological, unambitious, and abnormal?
Hey, at least I don’t use smiley faces. Nor do I advocate killing Mexicans with land mines to prevent their illegal entry into the United States. I acknowledge the difference between well water and crops and a non-renewable like petroleum. I’m capable of evaluating the best economic use for a scarce resource, and can consider its significance in comparison with other projects like inflating automobile tires.
LOL, so now Roaringlamb/Godlumps is a supporter of Barry too?
All of the income growth goes to people at the top. The median family’s income fell by 2.9 percent from 2000 to 2004. If the decline has stopped (I don’t know that it has — do you?) income is stagnant. The poor aren’t getting better off.
Regarding Lyman Beecher, I was criticizing his attitudes about the working class. But I wouldn’t praise him as a huge abolitionist. Few if any of the orthodox protestants were (neither were the philanthropists and patriotic types so much). Lyman Beecher was a typical gradualist and advocate of colonization, and was famous for trying to suppress people like Whittier, Garrison, Phillips, Thompson, Lucy Stone, Grimké sisters, Douglass, and Thoreau — anyone who demanded equal rights and annoyed slavemasters.
#41 Scroopy,
You also have no sense of humor nor do you know when someone is pulling he wool over your eyes - thus I have use smiley faces so you and other lefties will know when a joke is coming or passed their way. I only do so for the left’s benefit as the Christian thing to do for the mentally handicapped.
Don’t be a whack job. Make your mother proud - Repent - and eat Bush’s baked beans to inflate yourself like your messiah while ending the shortage of natural gas and saving the planet from oilmen
#43 Scroopy,
All of your thoughts are incorrect as usual and based on erroneous assumptions some slave master swilled your way but I no longer do the work required to find the truth that Lefties refuse to do for themselves. Call it tough love.
All of the correct and truthful data you seek can be found on the IRS’s web site. Go find it and then tell us what kind of lies you were trying to spread this time.
“LOL, so now Roaringlamb/Godlumps is a supporter of Barry too?”
I hardly support Obamessiah, Outkast.
I am a supporter of FACTS.
Something completely alien to Loyal McBushies.
And what is it with calling me a roaring lamb? I still don’t get it.
Wait a minute - McCain has been in Washington for 26 years and he’s just now coming up with an energy program? I know old people are slow, but 26 years??
Funny, Anlir, and correct. But why hasn’t anyone in Congress done something substantial about energy since I refused the car my father offered, “because I’m afraid we’ll run out of oil and it will just sit in the driveway, useless.”
That was in 1972.
Or was it 1973? Age is creeping up on me, too.
Godlumps, the Democrat:
Oh, come on Godlumps. Everyone knows you are a
Democrat. Just ‘fess up. Probably a paid operative of the DNC, too, judging from your ineffectiveness.
You never present a Libertarian idea. You never make a Libertarian argument. You just sort of spew and spam the usual Democrat/Huffington/George Soros talking points and attacks against Republicans over and over. You only speak positively of Obama.
In other words, everything about you screams Democrat. Nothing at all even whispers Libertarian.
So how IS the pay from the DNC these days? Do you get a little bobble-headed George Soros pen to put in your front pocket? Or maybe a small vial of holy water (or whatever) blessed by the Chosen One?
Drill-
Thank you for acknowledging you can’t counter the facts about McCain.
Scroop Moth: Oil isn’t renewable. Drilling leads to diminishing quantities.
Outkast: I disagree with both those points, Scroop. ALL natural resources appear to be renewable (given enough time), and common sense tells us that drilling will lead to INCREASED quantities of oil.
“Enough time” to renew oil is millions of years.
Drilling extracts the oil that is there, leaving less there to get later.
Are you a real person, or sent here to make Christians look bad?
Mickel at #24: That’s precisely the kind of short-sightedness that demonstrates how Republicans got us here. Because Carter’s push for solar energy didn’t create a world-changing revolution in three or four years, you mock the whole idea.
Maybe if Reagan had supported and expanded Carter’s move toward energy alternatives instead of killing them, we’d be off of petroleum already. If not, we’d be a good long way closer to that point than we are.
On another thread I postulated that all Loyal McBushies must secretly share the brain of a single sea scallop. Go easy on Outkast and the others. We don’t want to overload the scallop.
I am so not a loyal McBushie, Lumpie………and please refrain from exhausting your vocabulary on Outkast. Your tired liberal screed shows that opining on people of higher intellect, such as Outkast, demeans your attempt to be funny.
