Meditation 8.16
On Saturday’s we consider a passage of Scripture:
For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved. For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.
For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The dog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.”
Uplifting, no?

Would it be possible for you to cite the book, chapter and verse(s)?
2 Peter 2:19b-22 I believe
In some respect, it is better to have never heard the gospel, then to hear it and turn your back on its truth. No one is going to be able to claim ignorance in the end. As we stand before God, He will demonstrate that we have had every chance to know the Truth.
A graphic picture of how sinful people cannot get away from the sin without help from above. A similar passage has to do with leopards not being able to change their spots.
These are false teachers who are trying to entice others to their sinful ways. They have been given the truth, but reject it and then prey off new believer’s ignorance and weaknesses. Peter is warning new believers to not fall for it, but trust Christ who was the perfect lamb. He will hold us firm.
Let us all sit on our tooshies and think up examples from real life to this cut-and-paste from the New Testament. How else to apply it?
How do we use this isolated-chosen-for-the-day “truth” without judging unfairly someone else?
yes, it is necessary to be equipped against false teachers. A good study to develop.
Perhaps one place to start is to go onto Chapter 3.
Hey Reg - Lighten up!
I often have to ask the Lord what is taking my attention away from Him. Sometimes it is trivia and sometimes things of merit but nothing should be coming before Him. He needs to refocus me daily/hourly. Seems like by this time, I would be getting it, but no, He just keeps showing me stuff. It will be good to realize the freedom He offers at the cross. I pray that He will not allow me to be overcome in my own selfishness and I thank Him that I am His.
