Good morning!

Today’s quote is from a pastor and theologian:  ”To understand reality is not the same as to know about outward events. It is to perceive the essential nature of things. The best-informed man is not necessarily the wisest. Indeed there is a danger that precisely in the multiplicity of his knowledge he will lose sight of what is essential.”

This is such a great quote and so true. The more we know the more we complicate things. And life you know is sometimes very basic, something to eat, something warm to wear, somewhere to live, someone to love and love you back. Everything else is gravy.

“The more we know the more we complicate things.”

Tell me about it. I live with an Engineer. Next to philosophers, theologians and psychologists no one can complicate simple things more.

  3. Great quote!

My husband and I just returned last evening from a spring-break-long road trip with four Chinese exchange students (college undergrad) to Niagara Falls and Washington, D.C. Eventful and profound! I am exhausted. A blessed Resurrection Sunday to all.

  4. Another quote:

Wisdom doesn’t necessarily come with age. Sometimes age just shows up all by itself.

    – Tom Wilson

    Oh, NO!

I keep waiting for my depth to kick in. I guess it’s not automatic.

We had an awesome “Good Friday” service at our church (first time ever) last night. I planned the service out in detail, then found that it took on a life of its own when our group was together in worship.

Today is Saturday and I have come up with a couple quotes. See what you think:

    * “There is great spiritual danger in skating past Good Friday in a rush to get to Easter Sunday. It’s like getting a Ph.D. without ever contemplating the human condition; like presuming heaven is an automatic reward just for breathing; like expecting a check in the mail without first getting a job; like diving into a baptistery without first confronting your sin in faith; like demanding sex without promising your lifelong love and commitment in marriage. It’s also like fussing religiously over my use of the phrase “Good Friday” and failing to grasp what I meant (above) by the verb “rush.” Joel Mark, March 22, 2008.

    * “If you have not been scandalized by the cross, you can’t fully embrace the joy or imagine the meaning of the empty tomb.” Joel Mark, March 22, 2008

  8. We bought a Vitamix.
After 2 whole food, the whole vegetable, no mess smoothie meals, we both feel super energized.

I feel like a million bucks. I am heartily recommending this high-quality machine.

We got it at a ’show’ at Costco.

    Vitamix.com has the testimonials.

  9. Friends,

You may be interested in this post that I’ve written up on David Kupelian of WorldNetDailey and his spirit guru Roy Masters.

    http://positiveliberty.com/2008/03/david-kupelian-is-not-a-christian.html

I’m sure you are familiar with the WND website and may be familiar with Kupelian’s book “The Marketing of Evil.” What you might not know is that Kupelian like the Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses claims to be a “Christian,” but is not “Christian” as you evangelicals understand the term.

He and Masters are actually quite sneaky in the way that they “market” their teachings to evangelicals like yourself whom they seek to convert. Ironic.

  10. From today’s quote (which I notice no one has identified yet):

“The best-informed man is not necessarily the wisest. Indeed there is a danger that precisely in the multiplicity of his knowledge he will lose sight of what is essential.”

I find this to be true on an almost daily basis. Case in point: my daily web surfing. No, make that my hourly surfing. I will just as likely come back to the computer and start looking around again as I will anything else. And I’m getting information at an unusable rate.

I thought that using RSS feeds would help, but the sort of sites for which I get an RSS feed give me information at a staggering rate. And yes, I’m including WorldMag in that description–mainly because I insist upon reading all the comments written by you delightful people :)

Short of putting a blanket over the monitor, or a sign over it that says Go Read a Book, I guess I’ll have to realize that this is me, and at least I’m surfing the good stuff. But I’m still working on a good way to distill the wisdom from this ocean of info.

A joyous Easter to you all!

    Christ is risen!

    He is risen indeed!

    He is Risen Indeed!
I hope everyone had a nice Resurrection Day.
We spent the weekend in Greensboro. We got to see a sonogram picture (if that’s what you call it) of our neew greatgrand. It’s only about 3″ long now. Can’t tell the sex yet. Becky said the doctor took a (3-d? help me on this StuBob.) of it. Becky swears the baby was waiving to her. I’m afraid to disabuse her of that notion.

Yes indeedy. Early trip to town for the sunrise service, hubby cooked breakfast for the masses, we ate breakfast with the masses, sat around gabbing until church started, fine couple hours of teaching and singing, more chatting, and home for some family fun. Phone calls from various kids scattered around the world.

Wonderful to be able to see the little ones at such a young age! I never could see mine in the sonograms before but it was nice to know somebody at least was claiming to (they train them well at sonogram reading school).

My nearly five year old survived his first full big person church service, though he spent most of it flirting shamelessly with two pre-teen girls in the row behind us. It was Daddy’s fault. He told him wearing a tie made you a chick magnet.
